CFD Research is seeking an Information Systems Security Manager. The ISSM's primary function serves as a principal advisor on all matters, technical and otherwise, involving the security of information systems under their purview. Primary role will be supporting contracts with Department of Defense (DoD) agencies.

Job duties to include:

  • Establish, document, implement, and monitor the IS security program, System Security Plans (SSP), security education, awareness, and training activities for IS personnel, users, and others, as appropriate.

  • Responsible for cyber security policies and procedures. Assist with identifying potential Cyber Security issues and bring systems into full compliance with required NIST standards.

  • Develop and oversee operational information systems security implementation policy and guidelines of network security, based upon the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

  • Perform risk assessments and make recommendations for remediation.

  • Advise company on security testing methodologies and processes.

  • Represent the IS team in meetings with the government sponsor.

  • Liaise directly with the assigned DCSA ISSP to ensure full and timely compliance with government directives and regulations.

  • Evaluate authorization documentation, and provide written recommendations for authorization to government PIs.

  • Develop, review, endorse, and recommend action by the AO (Authorizing Official) or DAO (Delegated AO) of system assessment documentation.

  • Develop and execute security assessment plans that include verification that the features and assurances required for each protection level functioning.

  • Maintain repository for all system authorization documentation and modifications.

  • Institute and implement a Configuration Control Board (CCB) charter, as well as ensure configuration management (CM) for security-relevant changes to software, hardware, and firmware and that they are properly documented.

  • Responsible for responding to security incidents, to include investigating and reporting security violations and incidents.

  • Ensure proper protection or corrective measures have been taken when an incident or vulnerability has been discovered within a system.

  • Ensure that data ownership and responsibilities are established for each authorization boundary, to include accountability, access rights, and special handling requirements.

  • Evaluate threats and vulnerabilities to ascertain whether additional safeguards are needed.

  • Assess changes in the system, its environment, and operational needs that could affect the authorization.

  • Ensure that authorization is accomplished, and a valid Authorization determination has been given for all authorization boundaries under your purview.

  • Conduct periodic assessments of the security posture of the authorization boundaries.

  • Ensure periodic testing is conducted to evaluate the security posture of IS by employing various intrusion/attack detection and monitoring tools.

  • Ensure that system recovery and reconstitution processes developed and monitored to ensure that the authorization boundary can be recovered based on its availability level determination.

  • Ensure all authorization documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals.

  • Ensure that system security requirements are addressed during all phases of the system life cycle.

  • Prepares department specific reports as required by government or customer

  • Must be able to conduct the duties of the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) if one is not present and/or available.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years related experience.

  • Must hold an active security clearance with the ability to obtain TS//SCI if not already held.

  • Prior performance in roles such as ISSO or ISSM.

  • Must have prior SA experience

  • Must have Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • eMASS experience is a must

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in related field

Certifications/Desired Qualifications:

  • IAT Level II - (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.)
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level II (in lieu of IAT Level II)
  • If certifications are not currently held, must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire

Location: This role is based in the Huntsville, AL area, and is 100% onsite.
