The Kentucky Department of Insurance regulates the Commonwealth's insurance market, licenses agents and other insurance professionals, monitors the financial condition of companies, educates consumers to make wise choices, and ensures Kentuckians are treated fairly in the marketplace.

We promote sound, competitive insurance markets; protect the public through effective enforcement and regulations; and empower the public through outreach and education.

The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be personable.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage IT Staff. Represent Agency in meetings related to IT functions. Advise the Commissioner and Directors of IT issues.

  • Supervise the hardware/ Software system for the agency. Plan needed upgrades to network, changes with the in-house data system, Etc.

  • Supervise the system analysis function. Assure IT system provides needed services/ results for the program functions of the agency.

  • Assure network and data system adhere to standards of specifications. Assure documentation exits for system back-up.

  • Other Duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of professional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, systems support, or computer operating systems.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis. A master's degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in computer programming, systems analysis, and/or computer operations will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis. Experience in business or public administration, statistics, research, or a related field will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title typically perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period
