Job Title: Information Systems (IS 110) Adjunct Faculty

Required Degree: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems or related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

  • High-level competencies in the following are desired:

  • Understand how to diagnose technical problems in Excel and find solutions

  • Ability to teach students how to solve their own Excel problems

  • Understand students' skill levels and identify appropriate learning techniques without solving their problems for them

The ability to teach the following subjects at an introductory level is necessary:

  • Excel Basics

  • Formulas and Functions

  • Logic and Reference Functions

  • Date, Time, and Text Functions

  • Charting

  • Modeling Basics

  • Advanced Modeling

  • Statistics

  • Analyzing Data with pivot tables

  • Optimization Analysis (Solver add-in)

Duties/Expectations:

  • This position is to teach IS 110: Spreadsheet Skills and Business Analysis.

  • There are two sections taught once weekly on Thursdays from 3pm

  • 3:50 pm and 4pm

  • 4:50pm.

  • The course schedule runs from September 9, 2024, thru December 9, 2024, which includes 13 Thursday classes per section. The instructor will also be expected to evaluate all grades and submit them by December 27, 2024.

  • The candidate must have a passion for information systems. Course content, text, and homework assignments have been created for the course, and grading and lab hours are typically completed by student teaching assistants.

  • It is expected that the candidate will commit to teaching for the full term/semester.

  • Pay will be dependent on instructor experience, course credit hours, and enrollment.

  • The instructor will work with students, student teaching assistants, the faculty coordinator for IS 110, and field student emails/questions. Although teaching experience is not required, it is preferred.

Must reside in the State of Utah to be eligible for employment consideration. Must be willing to teach the course(s) in person, on campus.
