The Office of Information Technology provides a full range of enterprise technologies to support the citizens of Maine. This is an exciting position for a qualified individual who has demonstrated experience and has a successful track record in providing support as a Junior Cloud Architect for Azure, AWS and Identity and Access Management, Microsoft 365 services and Windows Server Operating Systems within the Computing Infrastructure and Services Group.

What you will do in this position:

You will manage and administer Microsoft 365, Directory Services, Document Management Services, and Quality Assurance as an active contributor of the team. You will work on a team handling request and participate in professional communications as a team player who demonstrates excellent collaboration skills. You will also have the opportunity to participate in other areas within our group.

The position will provide support for the Office of Information Technology and all customers we support. The position performs a full range of system administration functions in order to control systems and attain maximum utilization and efficiency within Active Directory File Services team. This position maintains group policy objects, implements system security measures such as backups, access control, system accounting, and disaster recovery in order to ensure and maintain system integrity and availability. The position is a key player to the support and maintenance of all users within the States systems as far as access control.

The Team within the Office of Information Technology offers professional and technical hosting and enterprise services to agencies. The Team resides within the Computing Infrastructure & Services Group, which supports a wide range of applications utilizing Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Directory Services, Enterprise Backup and Storage, SQL Server, IIS, SharePoint, and other COTS products. Work is performed under supervision. This position is in Augusta. The CIS Group requires 24x7 server support. This requires the position to be on-call in a rotation format.

An average day of responsibilities will include things like…

You will be expected to manage your work at a technical level with supervision.

  • Assist in the problem solving and handling of the technical issues or inquiries.

  • Maintains group policy objects.

  • Administering and management of Document Management Application.

  • Quality Assurance checks on new environments.

  • Handling trouble support tickets.

  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and management of system upgrades to keep up to date and secure.

  • O365 Administration (manage user's properties, manage user's multi factor authentication and user views).

  • Support, build, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments within a VMWare ESXi environment or physical.

  • Participate in the implementation of agency information system policies to meet agency operating standards and procedures.

  • Research, install, and configure hardware, software, and networking for servers within multi-user operating and/or networking system environments.

  • Perform a full range of system administration functions for systems to attain maximum utilization and efficiency.

  • Administer and manage system security measures such as backups, access control, and disaster recovery to ensure and maintain system integrity and availability.

  • Perform fault isolation and repairs in a complex computing/networking environment independently or in consultation with vendor or other technical personnel to diagnose and correct system problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to support, administer and troubleshoot all products associated with the services you support.

  • Ability to communicate written and verbal with people having a variety of knowledge and expectations.

  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects/activities simultaneously.

  • Ability to support complex multi-user computer network systems.

  • Ability to support complex software applications, system back-up and data security techniques.

  • Ability to support advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution techniques.

  • Ability to train personnel in all phases of system support, utilization, and applications.

  • Ability to solve technical computer problems.

  • Ability to perform research and make recommendations to management on technical computer issues.

  • Ability to perform work requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU…

  • Experience with M365 in a corporate environment

  • Experience in Microsoft Windows Server Administration, to include current Windows Server versions

  • Experience working to resolve problems or in implementing new solutions

  • Experience using a ticket management system for work prioritization and daily workload management

  • Experience with VMware

  • Experience with Active Directory

  • Experience with PowerShell

  • Ability to develop and manage user-oriented computing activities

  • Ability to develop and coordinate training programs

  • Ability to work on multiple projects/activities simultaneously

  • Ability to work with DNS/DHCP and Infoblox

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to support OneDrive

  • Ability to write clearly and effectively

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve basic technical computer problems

  • Ability to perform research and make recommendations to management on technical computer issues

  • Ability to perform work requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager

  • Knowledge of Kerberos authentication

  • Knowledge to manage business processes

  • Knowledge of proper computer system data security/backup procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 3 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience. Related training, internship experience etc. may be credited as related experience on a month-per-month basis.

The selected candidate will be required to pass the required background checks(fingerprinting may be required) as a condition of employment.
