What you'll be doing...

As the engineer, you will be responsible for the management, operation and technical control for securing customer and corporate IT systems are in place and followed. You will ensure that appropriate steps are taken to implement information security requirements.

  • Supporting Certification and Accreditation activities by developing the overall System Security.

  • Documenting Information Systems Security Plans which will contain all necessary procedures, instructions, operating plans and guidance. The ISSO will also implement and monitor these plans.

  • Developing and maintaining documentation outlining system operating environment (overall mission, floor layout, hardware configuration, software, type of information processed, user organizations and security clearances, operating mode, interconnections to other systems/networks of users, their security personnel, and associated responsibilities) for systems which they are responsible.

  • Ensuring that proper decisions are made concerning levels of concern for confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data on systems for which they are responsible. Providing expertise in classified and unclassified ratings to customers

  • Briefing technical vulnerabilities, system non-compliance with Information Security policies, and security incidents to management in a timely fashion.

  • Creating presentations, training material, network diagrams, reports, and templates using Microsoft Office or a comparable office software suite.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Math, or Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • CISSP, CISM or similar certifications and credentials.

  • Experience developing or revising system-specific security safeguards and local operating procedures that are based on relevant guidelines and regulations. Demonstrated experience with NIST SP 800-37, Rev 1.0, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 4, NIST SP 800-137 and FedRAMP approaches.

  • Experience providing IT security consulting to system owners as to the other security documents (security incident reports, equipment/software inventories, operating instructions, technical vulnerability reports, contingency plans).

  • Experience coordinating and conducting regular system security audits in support of compliance with the overall System Security Plan to maintain Authority to Operate status.

  • Experience initiating protective and corrective measures when a security incident or vulnerability is discovered.

  • Experience with Nessus & ArcSight.

Responsibilities: * Coordinate targeted awareness training to enable system operators, innovators, and security practitioners to adopt sound security behaviors while executing day-to-day functions. * Support security awareness initiatives as assigned to help minimize the human threat to Verizon information assets, * Formulate communication strategies and plans to support major security initiatives that are visually appealing, branded appropriately and convey the appropriate tone for interacting with users in a positive manner. * Manage projects that will require the ability to plan, manage, maintain and sustain a complex, organization wide program long-term. * Identify creative and innovative methods to effectively leverage a variety of communications channels, activities, and events to drive positive security behavior adoption. * Coordinate with team members and openly share thought leadership and experience on proven techniques. * Develop and operationalize measures to determine if awareness and education efforts are accomplishing the desired outcome. * Maintain current with cyber security threats and trends. * Consistently deliver high quality work products that fully address the criteria for which they were intended, requires minimal modification, and are grammatically sound. * As a contributor, take ownership for assigned areas of responsibility and effectively manages work load to meet team deadlines. * Project confidence, poise and competence under pressure while interacting with team members, and partners. What we're looking for... You'll need to have: * Bachelor's degree or four or more years of experience. * Four or more years of relevant work experience. * Experience in Security Awareness/ Training or a similar background in the Security Education areas. * Willingness to travel.
