Job Description
The Project Manager is responsible for the Agile life-cycle management of software engineering environment to meet Huntington Ingalls Industries Mission Technologies research and development objectives for internal research and development (IR&D) projects. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress, change management, and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Essential Job Responsibilities
This role is to provide support and Agile/Scrum management of multiple IR&D projects across the division.
Acts as the Agile Scrum Master for multiple software system development projects.
The Scrum Master duties include managing backlogs items, working to relieve any impediments for the software development team processes, and provide retrospective and planning elements for Agile/Scrum development tasking.
Additionally, the candidate will review status of projects and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports, and assess project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Candidate will also develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress, change management, and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Defines, designs, and implements continuous improvement projects to ensure programs are integrated vertically and horizontally across organization.
Exhibits frequent use and general knowledge of Agile/Scrum life-cycle management industry best practices, techniques, and standards.
Minimum Qualifications
2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years with a Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
1-2 years of experience with software project management, preferably as a project manager or Agile project team leader.
Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
Experience with the agile software lifecycle and managing team members on a technical team
Experience working directly with client stakeholders
Ability to work multiple aspects of a project concurrently
Using MS Excel, Word, and Power Point
Preferred Requirements
Experience Agile software project management using Jira/Confluence is a plus
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) team leadership certification is a plus
Experience improving efficiency or time to completion on tasks on a team is a plus
Experience with military is a plus
Physical Requirements
Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
