Primary Purpose:

Provide senior-level management and strategic direction for internal and externally staffed teams responsible for the design, development, installation, deployment and 24x7 support of the corporate-wide information security technology infrastructure. The information security technology environment includes firewalls, IDS/IPS, database security solutions, SIEM, web content filtering, and other complex networked applications and systems.

Work with line of business (LOB) leaders to develop and implement technology-based solutions that satisfy business requirements while providing long term value. Interact with technical and nontechnical lines of business to ensure that proper IT governance and technical oversight is followed, and ensure the implementation of consistent and supportable technical solutions. Ensure that all information security technology infrastructure meets internal technical standards for integration and support. Partner with internal clients in developing technical solutions that ensure client success.

The Cyber Strategy Manager is accountable to publish and maintain cross domain cyber strategies aligned to business drivers and requirements important to enable business goals and objectives. The Cyber Strategy Manger is accountable to coordinate with all stakeholders and subject matter experts critical to delivering high business value strategies. The Cyber Strategy Manager is also accountable for supporting cyber investment planning, budge coordination, research & development, and research services.

On February 7, 2019, it was announced that SunTrust Banks, Inc. and BB&T Corporation intend to merge, with the combined entity to be named Truist Financial Corporation ("Truist"). The merger is subject to regulatory approval, and BB&T and SunTrust remain separate and independent companies until the merger closes. This position, which would be for a role with Truist or an affiliate, is contingent upon the merger receiving regulatory approval and closing.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

Provide essential leadership and supervision to a subordinate management team and associates. Ensure internal compliance to process and standards.

Understand and communicate strategic direction to associates and line of business (LOB) clients Work across IT Services with other managers and staff on IT Services work efforts. Represent Information Security when working with Business Partners to understand business problems and providing solutions to those problems Plan, develop and monitor departmental budget in accordance with guidelines as established by Bank management, Operations Division management and Information Security management. Administer compliance to meet budgetary goals and negotiate changes as required to support Bank objectives Provide leadership and guidance in the planning of corporate, client and internal information security technology projects.

Work with senior management to ensure adequate staffing is available to complete initiatives/projects as determined by senior management. Identify and execute on opportunities for staff augmentation via offshoring Participate in the development of strategic policy for information security technologies. Understand and communicate strategic direction to peers, subordinates, clients and vendors Manage the translation of strategic direction into efficient, effective and supportable solutions ensuring success while maintaining compliance to internal processes and policies Implement and monitor controls to ensure that the availability, reliability, performance and service levels of the information security technology infrastructure remain consistently high and in keeping with line of business expectations. Direct team activities during production problems Provide reporting to staff, colleagues, senior management and clients on a regular basis to ensure all relative and critical information is clearly and expeditiously shared Responsible for assigned personnel regarding employment, career development, performance evaluations, salary recommendations, promotions, transfers and terminations within established policies and guidelines Review technical and business processes, standards and procedures making recommendations for continuous improvement Provide oversight on the team efforts to ensure Information Security and IT Services' Standards and Processes and "best practices" are followed

Required Skills and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent education and related training Ten years of Information Security leadership experience An extensive understanding of applied enterprise information security technologies Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products Aptitude towards strategic thought and people leadership while showing ability to influence direction Display a strong sense of urgency and bias for positive action with a history of delivering results Good written and verbal communication, team and people skills; ability to share information and communicate clearly with team members and internal and external clients Ability to travel, occasionally overnight CISSP Certification

Desired Skills or Competencies:

Knowledge of financial services industry and all applicable regulations and industry standards CSSLP or CISM Certification
