The Manager of Information Security is primarily responsible for execution, monitoring and enforcement of the information security governance, incident investigations, architecture governance and standards and policies across the company. The successful candidate will oversee day to day execution of operational information security and IT architecture initiatives at Cooper Tire & Rubber Company. This position will report to Vice President of Business & Information Services (BIS) and collaborate closely with other Executives and Managers within the organization to ensure integration and efficiency of security initiatives.

Information security responsibilities include contributing to policy and risk management framework, providing input to information security roadmap, designing, planning, coordinating, investigating and executing risk management of various security focused systems and operational processes including but not limited to: vulnerability management, IPS/IDS, logging and event correlation, incident response, systems and network security hardening, threat analysis, and malware response and mitigation.

Architecture responsibilities include contributing to Cooper Tire and Rubber's IT department's technical vision, developing the lifecycle management and architecture roadmap and assisting in all aspects of technology development. This position is responsible for providing direction in technology-related issues in support of information operations. This role manages a team of five Cooper Tire employees as well as responsibility for directing both on shore and off shore information security contract employees


  • Collaborates with VP BIS and other executive management to determine acceptable levels of information security risk for the organization.

  • Communicates regularly with BIS leadership team and staff on open issues, strategy and to ensure alignment between the security and enterprise architectures and infrastructure.

  • Works directly with business units to facilitate IT risk assessment and risk management awareness. Must be able to balance real-world risks with business drivers such as speed, flexibility and performance.

  • Maintains & enhances the company's information security management program to ensure integrity, confidentiality and availability of information.

  • Creates a framework for roles and responsibilities with regard to information ownership, classification, accountability and protection.

  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date security policies, standards and guidelines. Also, oversees the training and dissemination of security policies and practices.

  • Ensures security programs are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and policies to minimize or eliminate risk and audit findings.

  • Maintains effective disaster recovery policies and procedures and manages incident response activities to include documentation, training, table-top and mock exercises, and resource coordination during actual events.

  • Leverages experience with ERP implementations and upgrades of existing systems.

  • Performs integral role in helping to manage security incidents/events. Priority is to protect corporate assets, including intellectual property, regulated data and the company's reputation.

  • Develops and maintains SAP security architecture/designs, plans, controls, processes, standards, policies and procedures to ensure alignment with overall IT security strategy for entire SAP environment including Basis and GRC

  • Monitors environment for emerging threats. Stays current with new technologies and controls.

  • Provides regular reporting metrics on the current state of the program to BIS and other senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or related fiel

  • 5+ years of experience in network security and system security administration, vulnerability management and security penetration techniques

  • Strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate within area of responsibility.

  • Proven track record and experience in developing information security policies and procedures, as well as successfully executing programs that meet the objectives of excellence in a dynamic environment.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of information risk concepts and principles as a means of relating business needs to security controls; excellent understanding of information security concepts, protocols, industry best practices and strategies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate security and risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences

  • Strong analytical skills to analyze security requirements and relate them to appropriate security controls. Must be able to react calmly and competently in high-stress situations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, SOX)

  • Must be able to prioritize work efforts balancing operational tasks with longterm strategic security efforts

  • An understanding of operating system internals and network protocols

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional security management certification CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) or other similar credentials. CITA (Certified IT Architect Foundation) desirable.
