Information Security Data Protection Analyst (Contract)

As a member of the Information Security (IS) team, the IS Data Protection Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets within the enterprise. This position will protect and defend against the loss of critical data and the misuse or abuse of corporate systems and information by identifying situations when information is disclosed to unwanted parties; may also create and maintain security systems. This position aligns with the Cyber Defense Analyst work role within the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework.

The Information Security Data Protection Analyst is a full-time Contract role based in Southfield, Michigan and reports to the IS Data Protection Team Lead. Paid relocation is not available although remote work may be given consideration for highly qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Security

  • Triage developing alerts related to protection of intellectual property and other sensitive data; review and respond to potential data protection incidents identified by the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) system, coordinating with other areas of Information Security as necessary.

  • Participate in remediation efforts when data is compromised and recommend controls to mitigate security vulnerabilities

  • Support Information Security initiatives, including security enhancements, new security technology evaluation and testing, project requirements gathering, internal client communications, data protection inquiries, and documentation

  • Analyze trends to identify gaps and weaknesses on current alerting platforms and recommend improvements to ensure evolving capabilities.

  • Keep current on information security trends, new threats and attack techniques, and emerging security technologies.

Data Protection

  • Assist the team in testing and evaluating new processes designed to improve visibility of potential gaps in the environment

  • Work closely with management, leads, peers, development teams, business functions, and end users to ensure adequate data protection throughout the organization

  • Review data protection reports and metrics to recommend enhancements and additional controls based on business security models

  • Educate employees on data protection standards and procedures

  • Additional responsibilities as identified.


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security or related field preferred; work experience and background may be considered in lieu of education

  • 1 - 2 years of information security experience preferred

  • Security fundamentals certification such as GISF, GSEC, Security+, or similar preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies

  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management and vulnerability management processes

  • Demonstrated knowledge of system, network, and application threats and vulnerabilities

  • Highly self-motivated with strong attention to detail and prioritization skills

  • Excellent problem-solving ability and ability to resolve issues under tight time frames

  • Must have the ability to work in an office and remote environment; must be physically able to sit/stand at a computer & work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the work day

The Vice President, Information Security is also responsible for ensuring that information security risks are identified, evaluated, mitigated and reported in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements, and aligns with and supports the company's enterprise-wide risk posture. Key Responsibilities: * Identifies develops and implements information security vision, goals, strategy and programs in an effort to optimize processes across Ilitch Holdings family of companies to reduce information and information technology risks. * Establishes mid to long term information security strategies in alignment with Ilitch Holdings business goals. * Recommend and execute enterprise-wide information security strategy and action plans based on risk assessment and analysis. * Develop and lead a robust team of "world-class" cybersecurity colleagues focused on executing information security strategy and established policies. * Work directly with business units to facilitate risk assessment and risk management processes. * Responsible to ensure the company remains in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, directives, policies including developing, publishing and enforcing company information security standards and guidelines including digital and intellectual security. * Establishes the communication of standards, procedures, and guidelines to prevent the unauthorized use, release, modification, or destruction of data in any form. * Responds to incidents, establish appropriate standards and controls and directs the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures. * Review existing and new system designs to ensure essential security measures are in place and monitor system usage to detect security violations. * Responsible for maintaining complete awareness of current and emerging information security regulations, technology and threats. * Develop emergency procedures for handling security breaches and oversee incident response planning as well as the investigation of security breaches. * Identify and recommend budget requirements for needed information security technical upgrades. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Minimum of ten (10) + years of managerial experience in combination of information security, risk management and IT-related roles. * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
