PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under minimal supervision, this position provides information security and privacy direction and policy for the company. Develops and implements appropriate security and privacy policy, procedures and tools to protect computer assets and information of donors, patients and employees. Evaluates and drives process improvement initiatives to ensure security and privacy compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.

  • Delivers quality customer service to all customers.

  • Develops and manages centralized review, approval and tracking of all BSI systems' user access and provides detailed access rights reports.

  • Ensures systems' security by conducting audits, monitoring reports and evaluating threats. Assists in the development, review and/or approval of internal audits, responses to internal and external citations, requests to FDA for variance, submission of SOPs for FDA review, and evaluation of non-conforming software applications as is relates to security and privacy.

  • Researches, prepares and writes security and privacy policies, SOPs, validation and implementation protocols that comply with regulatory, industry and BSI standards. As directed, monitors on-site evaluations and testing. Acts as a resource.

  • Researches, recommends and evaluates security and privacy products, devices and methodologies for BSI and vendors. Partners with the Information Technology Department on selection and implementation of computer security systems and tools. Evaluates software applications, as it relates to security privacy.

  • Configures software parameters to comply with business and regulatory security and privacy requirements.

  • Develops and/or delivers security and privacy training, as directed.

  • Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related area required.

  • Current understanding of HIPAA, FDA Part 11 and applicable federal and state security and privacy legislation required.

  • Current understanding of federal and AABB standards governing blood center-manufacturing activities preferred.

Licenses/ Certifications

Security certification (e.g., GIAC, CISSP) in security management from a nationally recognized organization required.

Experience

  • Five years related experience required.

  • Blood banking or healthcare experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Technical ability using security applications on networked systems in the areas of authentication, access control, encryption, electronic signature and Internet security.

  • Strong project management skills and problem solving skills.Proficient computer skills.

VIEW JOBS 1/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-13T00:00 Description/Duties An Information Technology (IT) Technician III performs skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and support of wired and wireless communications network equipment, wired and wireless telecommunications networks and systems, and other related systems. Incumbents work on stationary land mobile communication units such as Land Mobile Radio infrastructure, base stations, and subscriber units, APCO Project 25 (P25) digital trunked systems, digital and analog simulcast radio systems, handheld (portable) and vehicle mounted (mobile) radio programming, and programming ("template") development; Fire Station Alerting Systems including peripheral equipment; and related systems and equipment. Incumbents provide technical hardware and software support to the radio system local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), servers, and/or work station computers. Incumbents provide technical support for voice and data communications transport technologies including wired (copper), wireless (including point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and Wireless Access Points), and fiber optic cable including provisioning, installation, testing, modification and maintenance at both the circuit and systems levels. Incumbents assist users with the evaluation, selection, acquisition, and installation of hardware, software, and communications packages; advise users in related technical areas leading to improved productivity; and assist in problem analysis and support. This class performs related duties as required. This class is distinguished from the IT Technician II classification by the greater level of knowledge and experience in radio communication systems, and by the higher level of independence in performing job duties. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules, regulations, and unit practices. This class is supervised by a Communications Systems Coordinator who reviews work through meetings, reports, and observations of work in progress or upon completion. Employees in this class are subject to stand-by duty and may perform the duties of their supervisor in their supervisor's absence. Employees in this class are required to carry a cell phone, respond to phone inquiries, and are subject to rotational stand-by and call-out duty 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. This class is FLSA nonexempt. Minimum Qualifications Required. Graduation from high school or GED. Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in a Technology field such as Electronics, Communications, Information, or related Technology field (or any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a two-year course of study in Electronics, Communications, Information, or related Technology field), and Extensive (5+ years) experience in the installation and/or maintenance in at least one of the following: wired or wireless interconnection technologies such as point-to-point or point-to-multipoint microwave networks, fiber optic cable networks, Land Mobile Radio networks (APCO Project 25 (P25) preferred), and/or other electronic communications systems. Special Requirements. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License by hire or promotion date. For this position, an individual receiving a conditional offer of employment from the City of Mesa must pass a background investigation through the City of Mesa Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to commencing employment with the City of Mesa. Substance Abuse Testing. Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this classification, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement alcohol, drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy and procedures. Preferred/Desirable Qualifications. Additional experience providing technical hardware and software support to LAN, WAN, servers, and/or personal computers in a professional work environment.
