Job Summary

Job Summary

This communications position, based out of our Duluth office, will provide multi-media communications and planning support to the Northeast Region of the state. The incumbent will be responsible for telling the stories of the MPCA to our diverse audiences using a variety of communications tools and strategies in order to further the Agency's air, land and water goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or other related field;

AND

One year of experience in media relations, public relations or communications including demonstrated experience writing and editing for various communication platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong writing and editing skills that include proper grammar and punctuation usage, accurate spelling, proofreading, and plain language skills.

Experience in project management from concept through completion.

Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines.

The ability to write for a wide variety of mediums including print, web content, and social media.

Must work well within a team and independently, in a demanding public environment, and under tight deadlines.

General knowledge of environmental issues.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small office equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

Additional Requirements

Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
