The IMT Manager shall be primarily responsible for leading our technical operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of our network and IT systems. The IMT Manager will be instrumental in managing our network infrastructure, enhancing security measures, maintaining Active Directory, overseeing our cloud computing strategies, guiding a team of IMT personnel, and serving as a liaison with Managed Service Providers (MSPs). This role will report directly to the Chief Information Officer.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust and secure network infrastructure.

  • Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures to safeguard all systems and data.

  • Monitor network performance and reliability to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.

  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and administration of Active Directory environments.

  • Ensure accurate and timely management of user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

  • Implement Group Policies to ensure compliance with university standards and security requirements.

  • Coordinate with IT staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations across all departments.

  • Develop and implement cloud strategies tailored to university needs.

  • Manage cloud resources and ensure optimization of infrastructure for scalability and cost-effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations in cloud environments.

  • Liaise with service providers to ensure service level agreements are met and to troubleshoot any issues.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, manuals, and operational procedures to ensure efficient system operations.

  • Oversee infrastructure maintenance and upgrades.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT desktop engineers and other IT professionals.

  • Supervise and direct IT staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), overseeing and coordinating all external IT support activities.

  • Manage IT projects from conception to implementation, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Prepare and manage the IT department's budget.

  • Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in IT management to drive continuous improvement.

  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, problem solve, and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision.

  • Proven ability to coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and creativity.

  • Demonstrated success in managing projects and programs that support client business objectives from concept through execution.

  • Strong ability to analyze client needs and write grants related to training initiatives.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner.

  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.

  • Certifications in relevant fields such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE are a plus but not required.

  • Strong understanding of network architectures, database management, and cloud-based technologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.

  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of experience in an IT management role, with proven expertise in network management, Active Directory, and cloud computing.

  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
