Summary :

The Informatics, Epic Applications Trainer is an enterprise-level position. Responsible for independently designing, developing, implementing and evaluating Epic and other technical and clinical training programs for areas across ThedaCare . Oversees instructional design of materials which promote individual development and competency. Creates and evaluates competency assessments to ensure knowledge transfer during education. Routinely evaluates curriculum and environments to ensure industry best practices and adult learning principal standards are met or exceeded. Proficient in designing, building and maintaining Epic training environments. Mentors informatics team members.

Job Description:

Key Accountabilities

  • Independently designs, develops, tests, implements and evaluates training programs to meet organizational needs in collaboration with subject matter experts.

  • Develops educational modules using best-practice instructional design methods and techniques to meet the needs of the organization and audience (self-paced, group, media, virtual, interactive CBTs, blended learning).

  • Uses clinical experience and competency to integrates functional and technology workflows to provide a comprehensive experience to students. Translates information into educationally sound training content.

  • Proactively evaluates ongoing operational metrics and adjusts curricula as necessary to meet organizational needs. Partners with key stakeholders to develop additional training strategies.

  • Acts as subject matter expert for areas of responsibility in collaboration with operational SMEs and IS. Provides guidance and consultation in planning, development and implementation of new functionality or programs.

  • Partners with informatics, educators, trainers and operational stakeholders to optimize the educational experience and value.

  • Mentors education and informatics team members.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and verbal presentation skills required.

  • Proficiency in Epic, Microsoft Office applications, and course authoring tools such as Captivate required. Ongoing professional development for rapidly changing technology required.

  • Self-motivated and managed. Must be able to work under strict time limits and shifting priorities while routinely producing quality deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, education, clinical information systems, healthcare or related experience.

  • 5 years of clinical experience required, 4 of which must be in clinical informatics, clinical education, IS, adult education or similar role with a broad knowledge base including in-depth workflow analysis, training environment specialization, application knowledge or similar combination of skills and experience.

  • Epic Informatics Certification required. Epic analyst certification or training environment build certificate required within 6 months of hire or promotion.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance

Work Environment

  • Normally works in climate controlled office environment or hybrid workspace

  • Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space

  • Travel may be required as necessary to meet organizational needs

  • Use of computers throughout work day

  • Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrist and fingers
