JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a remote position and can be based anywhere in the US near a major airport hub.

Primary Job Function

The Informatics Application Specialist (IAS) primary job function is to serve as the subject matter expert for the installation; integration; verification; and support of ADD's informatics solution; including but not limited to; Instrument Manager by Data Innovations. The implementation strategy includes pre-implementation planning and preparation; software installation; connectivity; verification testing; customer training; and technical support. Activities may be performed by phone or on site and requires coordination with Abbott project managers and customer LIS; IT; and laboratory staff. Many projects must be managed concurrently. Serve as technical application expert and the communication link to global support for field service organization and customers where advanced support as needed. Builds and maintains effective long-term relationships with internal and external customers. Manages and supports sales objective and customer satisfaction to grow the business

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

  • The resource will apply their technical IT and networking knowledge to analyze user needs; gather customer requirements; design an integrated; scalable; and comprehensive informatics solutions to improve the automation and informatics solutions for clinical diagnostic healthcare customers.

  • Serve as the informatics applications expert for the field service organization to provide enhanced support as need to address customer needs.

  • As the application expert this role will serve as the communication link between the field service organization and direct customers to the global support organization where necessary.

  • Collaborate and partner with the marketing organizations for new product identification; strategy and development that will provide solutions beyond the competition to establish ADD as the elite automation and informatics solutions partner.

  • This role also serves as level 1 and/or 2 complaint resolution via call center phone support function.

  • Maintain fiscal responsibility and complete each year under expense plan with primary goal of exceeding each year's work plan.

  • Must be able to multi-task and coordinate with a complex network of departments throughout all levels of an organization such as sales representatives; lab managers; project managers; IT personnel; HIS and LIS personnel; internal and external vendors and contractors; and senior level management as needed.

  • Responsible for implementing and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system. Adheres to and promotes the Abbott Code of Business Conduct.

Position Accountability

Success in this position will depend on forming effective partnerships with external customers; IAS team members; internal sales and support organizations and the Global support organization. The IAS position will report to the US Automation Implementation Manager. The IAS must have strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both the very IT technical individuals and the individuals across a multitude of organizational tiers without a technical background. Position requires the ability to apply strategic thinking/logic to develop customized informatics solutions based on the unique needs and circumstances of each customer. This assignment requires regular travel to customer sites for intensive installation & consulting projects; presentations; and escalation level support.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor degree preferred with preferred areas in computer science; information systems; medical technology; or related field.

  • Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of general networking; server technologies/ services; workstation/desktop technology; internet protocols; remote connectivity and Microsoft Windows Server (NT/2000/XP/2k3) skills. Areas of knowledge should also include virtual server; corporate virus protection products; back-up systems; firewalls; VPN client and tunnel technologies.

  • Education or experience in Medical technology or clinical laboratory science; ASCP; CLS (NCA) highly preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of formal IT technical application experience is required with additional experience in the hospital or laboratory information systems environment preferred.

  • Familiarity with laboratory workflow and operations required, with a background as a medical technologist being ideal, however, other work experience within the lab environment would be acceptable.

  • Experience with ADD's instrument systems a strong plus.

  • Excellent communication, organization, project management, and attention to detail required.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Primary Job Function: Provide support to Abbotts Diagnostic Division (ADD) customers and field personnel as the primary contact for ADD's highest complexity instruments for onsite instrument and assay integration and training; and serve as a resource for internal/external customers in troubleshooting and resolving instrument and/or reagent problems onsite or over the phone; and document information into the complaint handling system. Core Job Responsibilities: Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Lead multi-site/multi-instrument integrations for ADD instruments and reagents into customer sites/laboratories; including new product launch (NPL) products. Conduct comprehensive customer entrance interview to understand the customer's needs; and manage their expectations within the defined service offerings. Plan the onsite integration process. Work with implementation project managers as technical lead to execute project plan across customer systems. Work with the customer to take ownership of the instrument. Assist customers with meeting their regulatory and validation requirements. Provide appropriate training for the customer on the newly installed instrument. Manage the integration process to meet customer expectations and timeline. Conduct thorough exit interview to present integration results and secure customer buy-in. Lead critical account management situations as part of combined sales/service/support effort. Perform troubleshooting on issues related to reagent or instrument performance designed to improve customer self-sufficiency. Provides technical phone and on-site support to proactively maintain product performance or resolve customer complaints with ADD products for hardware; software and reagent issues. Investigate problems; diagnose probable causes; systematically eliminate alternatives; provide solutions; document information into complaint handling system. Position is critical to the support of the CAPA Quality Sub-System with responsibility for accurate documentation of customer complaints and the actions taken to resolve those concerns. Recognizes and communicates product issues and potential improvements to others in the organization in a timely and effective manner. Provide immediate feedback to CSO; GSS; and others regarding NPL field performance. Deliver onsite or classroom-based customer training. Customize onsite training to meet specific customer needs. Maintain and develop technical competence on instruments assigned as well as job-related tools and processes. Consults in the sales cycle regarding integration/technical/workflow issues; and the service cycle on HSI or other account management issues.
