Job Description:

This is a supervisor position in the Division of Technology and Innovation. The primary role of this position is to provide management and support the department's efficient and compliant management of data throughout its lifecycle, from creation to deletion or archival.

Examples of this management and oversight include the following:

  • Participate in conversations and implementation meetings related to the development of data disposition policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational objectives.

  • Establish and communicate data retention schedules, including criteria for data classification, retention periods, and disposal methods.

  • Oversee the implementation of data disposition policies and procedures, including secure deletion, and archival, ensuring adherence to established protocols and security measures.

  • Provide training and guidance to employees on data disposition policies, best practices, and legal requirements.

  • Collaborate with business units to assess data usage and storage needs, identifying opportunities to optimize data management processes and reduce storage costs.

  • Facilitate system effort prioritization and reviews staff capacity and demand for effective time managements.

Requirements:

A bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.

Required Experience:

Experience with Share Point

Experience maintaining complex spreadsheets or databases

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

Knowledge of state government processes;

Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, etc.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and customer satisfaction evaluation techniques;

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including needs assessment techniques;

Knowledge of polices and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions;

Ability to read and analyze legislation impact;

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;

Ability to communicate effectively and in writing;

Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions;

Skilled in judgment and decision-making by weighing the relative costs and benefits of a potential action;

Background Screening Requirements

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
