Description

Acts as a resource for problem solving issues related to infection prevention.

Completes 24/7 on call assignments as scheduled.

Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Illinois, McHenry County Departments of Public Health, and The Joint Commission, as well as recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Performs surveillance rounds on designated units and high risk areas. Collects and analyzes infection information for both patients and healthcare personnel. Serves as a leader/mentor and subject matter expert to staff in the areas related to infection prevention.

Performs investigations on significant clusters of infections, infectious outbreaks, or s significant incidents. Collaborates with managers and staff to implement and monitor corrective action plans related to infection prevention.

Prepares reports from data gathered and analyzed using a variety of software packages.

Presents the findings of surveillance data and special investigations/studies to the appropriate individuals and the Committee on Infection Control and Prevention (CIC). Collaborates with Corporate Health in all areas relating to staff issues involving infectious disease exposures. Completes and submits reportable data to local, state, and national agencies. Presents lectures, orientation and training related to infection prevention.

Conducts compliance monitoring for hand hygiene and adherence to established policy to assure patient and staff safety. Participates in Environment of Care (EOC) rounds and provides recommendations for remediation when necessary. Qualifications

Required: - Bachelors Degree (usually in Nursing, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or Allied Health related field) and 2-3 years recent clinical experience in the acute care setting.

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of statistical data analysis techniques.

  • Experience may be as a RN, Medical Technologist, Epidemiologist, and/or have an advanced degree in Public Health or related healthcare field.

  • State Licensure or advanced degree depending on professional clinical background. Desired: - At least 1-2 years of infection control experience.

  • Two years of post graduate study in a healthcare related field, epidemiology and/or public health.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards as they relate to infection prevention.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Certification in Infection Control from the Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.

  • If not certified, achieves certification within three years of appointment to the role.

Description The Certified Anesthesia Tech provides perioperative technical and clinical support to members of the anesthesia team in relation to all anesthesia procedures. The Certified Anesthesia Tech works as a member of the surgical team, providing patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider. Description - Understands care needs of age specific populations: neonate to 10 years old through geriatrics 64 years and older. - Understands, sets up and assists with emergency, difficult and awake fiberoptic intubations. - Prepares patient and assists provider with invasive line placement and monitoring--preps patient and prepares sterile field as well as all equipment/supplies for arterial lines, central venous lines, additional peripheral vascular lines, cardiac catheters, femoral lines, unilateral ventilation and TEE probe management. - Supports point of care glucose and blood gas testing including blood draws from patient lines - Provides clinical and technical support as needed per members of the anesthesia team as well as for all emergent situations - Assists with patient positioning and transfer - Prepares, disinfects, and troubleshoots all anesthesia-related equipment, including movement of equipment and supplies to support room turn-over and readiness. - Maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and equipment related to anesthesia care. - Provides clinical and technical support to anesthesia staff wherever needed in the institution--ICUs, IR, MRI, GI, CT, EP, ED - Rotates to meet the needs of the department and hospital, willingness for flexibility and on call coverage is essential.AA/EOE. - Serves as a resource for anesthesia to staff in other departments. - Supports the orientation of new staff members to the Anesthesia Technician role - Attend in-services for continuing education / completion of all on-line education in a timely manner and maintenance of clinical competency. Qualifications Required: - Basic Life Support Certification prior to or upon hire - ASATT Certification or Candidate that has recently completed an Applied Science Anesthesia Technology Degree Program (ATDP) and will sit for certification within 6 months of hire. - If Candidate is not certified or has not completed an Applied Science Anesthesia Technology Degree Program the candidate must possess at least 3 to 5 years OR / Anesthesia clinical experience and commit to enroll in an Applied Science Anesthesia Technology Degree Program within 1 year of hire and obtain certification within 6 months of program completion. .
