POSITION SUMMARY:

The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the infection prevention and control programs for healthcare system/facility. Implementation is accomplished through performing surveillance, consultation and education regarding prevention and control activities under the direction of the infection prevention director or manager and the physician epidemiologist. The Infection Prevention coordinator serves as an internal consultant in regards to data collection, analysis, reporting and team facilitation in relation to improving patient outcomes related to health care associated infections and infectious diseases. The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordination, facilitation and leadership of infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing, BSN preferred

  • Florida RN license required (or appropriate compact license).

  • 1 year infection control and 3 years clinical nursing experience required.

  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control preferred, or certify when eligible.

  • Will also consider medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or Master's degree in Public Health or Epidemiology.

  • Must have appropriate licensure for profession

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years acute care hospital and Infection Control experience.

  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control preferred, or certify when eligible.

The Wound Care Registered Nurse Coordinator is responsible for the observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care; health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirm; and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed or authorized by a duly licensed practitioner authorized by the laws of this state to prescribe such medications and treatments. Performs assessment and reassessment of the patient's physical condition and nursing needs related to Wound & Ostomy Care, as well as fecal & urinary incontinence management; develops, implements and communicates patient's Plan of Care with patient. Sets goals, and takes appropriate nursing action to meet those goals. Ensures patient's physical, emotional and rehabilitative needs are met. Encourages patient's involvement with their own care. * Will help to develop new Wound Care program for facility and develop multidisciplinary wound care team. Desired skills: 3 years' experience as RN in Ostomy and Wound Care. Certified WOCN. Hands-on with patients. Team Lead/Charge experience. Hospital background experience preferred but not required. * Bachelor's Degree in Health or Related Field preferred * Master's Degree or Clinical Nurse Leader desired. * Minimum 3 year in healthcare field; data collection and analysis experience. * Current Florida State Registered Nurse license. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire. * Current American Heart Association BLS certification. * WOCN certification * Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
