The Infection Prevention Coordinator is a registered nurse with#responsibility and accountability for the delivery of quality patient care by the prevention of hospital acquired infections, through staff and patient education, oversight of hospital practices as related to infection prevention and ongoing surveillance. The coordinator provides#leadership and support to the department using leadership skills to ensure best outcomes and high quality outcomes.

Qualifications:
SC RN license with 3 years acute care clinical experience required.

, #MSN preferred. Minimum of 3 years Infection Prevention and Control experience in a hospital setting or public health preferred.

Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) preferred. Specialized knowledge:# Must have a working knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infectious disease, knowledge of Infectious Disease laws and regulations associated with infection control, and knowledge of public health/communicable disease policies and procedures, e.g., DHEC, TJC, OSHA, and EPA.

Skills:
Must be skilled in identifying problems and recommending solutions, preparing and maintaining records and written reports, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital and medical staff, and the public.

Must also be proficient in communicating clearly and effectively with multiple constituents, negotiating complex systems to effect positive change, and computer usage (especially data base and spreadsheet analysis).# Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment required. Abilities: Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures, analyze situations, applies critical thinking, and work well with interdisciplinary teams required.#
