The Infection Prevention Clinical Coordinator oversees the Infection Control Programs and processes for Saint Mary's Hospital. Supports the hospital-wide Infection Prevention Program, including the identification and reduction of infection risks among patients, staff members, physicians, other licensed independent practitioners, and other persons in the hospital environment.
Works with leadership team to ensure all infection control incidents, outbreaks, & exposures are investigated and resolved in a timely manner. Serves as an expert in infection prevention and control for departments and hospital personnel. Ensures on going Joint Commission (TJC) requirements and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and /or accrediting agencies are met. Ensures the attainment of departmental goals and objectives as determined by the Director of Safety, Quality, & Performance Improvement.

You Will Be Responsible For:
Exceptional Patient Care: Oversees all investigations regarding outbreaks or exposures and ensures any recommended changes are implemented.
Excellent Communicator: Serves on hospital, Trinity Health-New England regional, and Trinity Health national committees as appointed by Senior leadership and as evidenced by reports at appropriate department meetings
Strong Educator: Educates concerning matters of infection prevention and control. Teaches new orientees, medical staff, students and other health care workers about risk, prevention and control methods.
Technical Familiarity: Implementation of a surveillance program and maintains a system for infection prevention for the hospital; ensures compliance with all state (CT. DPH) and federal (CMS, FDA, OSHA) regulatory agencies and Joint Commission accreditation requirements related to Infection Prevention and Control.
Active Teamwork: Ability to partner and act as resource to staff/departments to ensure achievement of the organizations Infection Prevention goals.
Registered Nurse, current CT RN license
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 5 years' experience in acute care hospital, and 3 years in infection prevention
CIC certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment
