Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Site Supervisor, Site Manager or Child Development Services Coordinator, the Infant and Toddler Preschool Teacher teaches an assigned group of students using developmentally appropriate practices and by creating an environment, in which children can experiment, make choices, solve problems and share their experiences with others. Participates in and attends parent education and parent involvement activities.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Possession of an Associate degree in early childhood education from an accredited college/university OR Associate degree in any other field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education

  • Hold a valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Child Development Teacher Permit or higher

  • Completed coursework must include, with a grade C or better, in at least one of the following core areas: -- Child/Human growth and development -- Child Family and community or Child and Family Relations -- ECE curriculum course

  • Completed coursework must include, 6 units, with a C or better OR must obtain within 12 months of hire: -- Infant and Toddler Care -- Infant and Toddler Development -- Infant and Toddler Curriculum

  • Possession of 1-year teaching experience with infancy and toddlers in a group setting (at least 50 hours of experience must be in an instructional capacity in a child care or development program working at least 3 hours per day in a six month period within the last two years) Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License and the availability of an automobile with at least the state minimum insurance coverage required by law

  • Attain and maintain proof of completion of 16 hours of training in preventative health practices, including pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and pediatric first aid compliant with Title 22 regulations

  • Copy of Transcript

  • Credential Copy (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Child Development Teacher Permit or higher)

  • Letter of Introduction

  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (3 Letters Required)

  • Resume

Comments and Other Information

Desirable Qualifications: - Family Engagement Credentialed Administrator

  • Experience in developing parent or volunteer training programs

  • Experience with evaluating work methods or results

  • Bilingual, English/Spanish
