Building Blocks Early Learning Center is currently seeking an Infant Teacher to join our team in Hamden. Our school director in Hamden carries more than 10 years of leadership experience. Whether you have recently earned your Early Childhood Certification, you're a field veteran, or looking to evolve your classroom experience, Shannon is a dedicated and knowledgeable mentor. She is known for investing her time, resources, and energy in the advancement of her staff.


  • Must be at least 18 years' of age

  • Obtained a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Completed minimum of 540 hours of documented work experience with unrelated children of the same age(s) to be served in the child care center

  • Working towards or meets NAEYC and or OEC requirements.

  • Open to exploring and completing requirements to further education in early childhood education.

  • Actively exhibit a passion for early education and an enthusiasm for learning

  • Demonstrate kindness and respect for self, others, and our community at large

  • Subscribe to play-based learning approach and importance of social-emotional learning

  • Deliver required paperwork and lesson plans on time and to completion

  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Adhere to all Connecticut Public Health and Child Care Regulations

  • Authorize state-required background check

  • Act as mandated reporter both on and off-campus

  • Collaborate with staff to help ensure classroom environments that adhere to NAEYC's Anti-Bias Early Education

  • Be capable of standing, moving, running, and playing for the majority of the day

  • Be capable of easily lifting up to 30 pounds multiple times a day

  • Complete mandatory state safety training and maintain the required annual training hours as required by the state of Connecticut

Maintains strong partnerships with Store Management. Conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines. Communicates with store Associates on damage and shrink initiatives. Identifies and resolves internal and external theft. Responsibilities: * Adheres to established shoplifter guidelines and policies * Provides prompt, courteous and knowledgeable service to internal and external customers * Promotes a culture of honesty and integrity; maintains confidentiality * Observes, apprehends, and/or deters any acts of dishonesty from outside sources * Participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned * Ensures apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity * Completes and distributes paperwork in an accurate and timely manner * Maintains appropriate evidence, demonstrates understanding of law enforcement procedures and professionally participates in legal activities as needed (e.g., police calls, etc.) * Coordinates and executes shrink related activities in partnership with Store Management * Adheres to all labor laws, policies, and procedures * Supports and participates in store shrink reduction goals and programs * Encourages Associate use of shrink reduction resources * Promotes safety awareness and supports maintenance of a risk-free environment * Performs other duties as assigned.
