At CoBank, our Industry Analyst is focused primarily on the rural utility companies within the power, energy and water industries. The ideal analyst is a thought leader in the industry with the experience, knowledge and perspective to bring clarity on risks and opportunities for CoBank customers, bank decision makers and industry stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Delivering timely, insightful, and concise industry/economic research reports and analyses to internal and external audiences. Reports include quarterly updates on the power, energy and water industries, and typically 4-5 individual research reports focused on industry trends, structural change, and policy initiatives important to CoBank customers and key decisions makers in the bank.
Preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences.
Working collaboratively with other CoBank professionals with a shared interest in the rural power, water and energy industries to identify key trends and industry issues.
Keeping abreast of relevant power, water and energy trends, market conditions, and macroeconomic conditions impacting the rural utilities and the bank.
Occasionally managing research projects conducted by external experts, from beginning to end.
Developing broad-based network of contacts in the power, water and energy industries.
10-20 percent travel.
Bachelor's degree in economics or business.
Minimum 3 years of experience as an economic analyst focused on the power, energy and water industries, or appropriate combination of education and experience.
Master's or PhD degree preferred.
Knowledge equivalent in the power, water and energy industries or related field.
Excellent analytical, written, and public speaking skills.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete research projects in his or her field of expertise.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, and collaborative environment and provide written or oral summaries to key bank decision makers.
Sufficient knowledge, experience, and confidence to apply a global and national macroeconomic perspective to the energy and water industries.
