Industry Analyst and Content Manager Steel Product Management

Working directly in the Product Management Group for Steel Products at Katerra, this role will work with the team on overall industry and steel industry monitoring and analysis as well as content management of the resources to disseminate across the constituent groups.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Keep other members of the team informed of the market data

  • Accurately price using total installed cost, total ownership cost, and total construction cost specific to Katerra-specific operational characteristics

  • Actively interact with Operations (including sourcing, business development) to both gather and deliver data

  • Engage and form relationships with vendors regarding the prevailing product uses, pricing, outlook,

  • Strive to understand the chief objectives of each product development exercise and actively engage in providing analysis demonstrating value (or lack thereof) in product development initiatives,

  • Support team business development efforts,

  • Create content delivering the product development outcomes to the internal and external stakeholders.

  • Keeping abreast relevant industry developments involving standardization, equipment, products, market and other regulatory data relative to cold-formed steel industry and the ability to filter and promulgate the directly applicable information to the CFS development leadership, the group members and other stakeholders throughout the company,

  • Maintaining active and vibrant industry network through engagement with trade associations, research community, practitioners, contractors, standardization bodies and manufacturers, and effectively exploiting those in the course of the group's product development efforts,

  • Support, on behalf of the CFS development team, routine internal requests and provide resources relative to design, products or external consultants,

  • Enhance and maintain the robust internal informational platform, under the direction of the CFS group leadership, serving as a central depository of the company's CFS state-of-the-art know-how related to manufacturing, design, R&D and construction practices,

  • Assist in creating presentations, multimedia resources, articles and educational resources on behalf of the group and, when applicable, assisting the company's marketing resources.

Required Skills & Experience

  • BA in business administration or marketing, or BS in engineering

  • Previous experience in the construction industry in purchasing, business development, estimation and/or direct construction experience, preferably involving steel and/or cold-formed steel

  • Ability to collect and analyze data and build predictive models incorporating all relevant cost contributions

  • Basic understanding of the underpinning mechanics of the business cycle of the construction industry and their effects on supply chain and the decision making in the choice of a framing system

  • Awareness of major vendors in the finished product and raw material domains

  • Excellent communication and writing skills and the ability to interact across disciplines within and outside the company in a professional and timely fashion and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

  • Analytically inclined

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Understanding and experience with the regulatory and standardization framework governing cold-formed steel framing, materials and industry

  • Understanding and familiarity with framing methods, basic design practices, common resources and current trends governing cold-formed steel framing industry

  • Understanding the product lines and prominent vendors relevant to the cold-formed industry involving equipment raw materials, half-materials, finished products, including member, connection components and accessories.

  • The ability to establish relationships with the appropriate external and internal stakeholders in an effort to stay abreast the latest developments in the industry

  • Basic multimedia skills

Responsible for development and distribution of relevant contractual reporting using internal tools to track sales, compliance, and achievement thresholds. * Works collaboratively to develop and maintain contract logic for all Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contract opportunities. * Reports, analyzes, and reconciles sales data working with internal stakeholders, manufacturer partners and sister companies. * Responds accurately and timely to requests for supplemental information or additional detail regarding contract logic. * Uses internal tools to create and maintain relevant reporting to manage contracts and pull-through. * Works closely with GPO Operations, Finance, Membership department and manufacturer partners to resolve any issues implicating contract logic. * Works with performance-based compliance tools, reports and scorecard to provide the organization with information on compliance monitoring and contract performance. * Responsible for working independently on contracts data and proactively solving problems with data and other reporting needs. * Responsible for accurately entering contract data into the centralized contract file maintenance system. * Establishes and maintains contract documentation files and summary for internal distribution. * General knowledge of contracts, with the ability to fully learn and understand our contracts, services and pharmaceutical needs, as it relates to our business to be a good internal resource for staff members. * Conducts daily maintenance and troubleshooting to maintain accuracy in production systems. * Performs related duties as assigned. * Requires a four-year degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, MIS, or equivalent work experience. * Normally requires a minimum of four years as analyst * Strong analytical skills * Strong attention to detail * Advanced computer skills in order to operate effectively with company systems and programs; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and SQL.
