Role Summary:

BHGE has an opening for an Application Scientist in Industrial Water Treatment Technology team at our Sugar Land, TX facility. The successful candidate will provide technology support to BHGE Downstream Chemicals Division in the areas of Industrial Water Treatment applications. This detail oriented individual will be viewed internally and externally as a subject matter expert in water technology including cooling and boiler water areas, and its industry specifications.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide technology support to development and technical recommendations for new chemical applications. Communicate progress to stakeholders.

  • Work in the team of Downstream Technology in development and commercialization of new products and technologies for Industrial Water Treatment.

  • Lead the technical development in common projects, project management and new products field applications.

  • Provides support to operations and manufacturing across water technology product line.

  • Works closely with sales to help support customers' needs and participates in customer interface individually and with the team of professionals.

  • Meets with customers to develop and understand the needs for products and services. May train customers and/or field personnel on new products. Handles special projects, as assigned.

  • Fluent in the cooling water technology, boiler technology and industry standards.

  • Collaborate across technology and technical support teams in water technology, within Baker Hughes Downstream Chemicals Operation districts.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineer with 10+ years' experience, Master's Degree and 6+ yrs experience. Ph.D and 4-6 yrs experience

  • 3-5 years of water technology experience.

  • 3 years of lab and product development experience in Chemicals

  • Good laboratory skills and safety culture leadership

  • Ability to function independently as well as in a team environment

  • Effective communication skills - able to accurately and concisely convey complex technical concepts to all individuals of all levels of experience both in a written and oral format

Desired Characteristics:

  • MS or PhD in Chemistry

  • 3-5 years of lab and product development experience

  • Downstream Chemicals experience

  • Working knowledge of industry related water technologies

  • Project Management experience, Working knowledge on PDM process and BHGE Innovation Machine system

  • Goal oriented individual who requires minimal day to day supervision
