Functions as an Industrial Specialist in the research and development section of the vehicular up-fit factory. Analyzes project requests and determines the scope of proposals to ensure the needs of the customer are addressed.
Prepares design sketches (utilizing CAD), cost estimates, detailed job plans, and material requirements involved in the up-fitting of new vehicles. Vehicles must be in compliance with state and federal laws.
Responsible for the establishment of new product packages, the expansion and improvement of current up-fitting packages, and improvement of re-manufacturing processes throughout the Fleet Management and Vehicular Components Business Group.
Develops and maintains programs on a continuing basis to assure satisfactory completion of all projects and ongoing projects related to their area of responsibility.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
Occasional travel - Travel may be required for training and/or work related issues

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
Graduate Education: Major study - - business administration, industrial management, engineering, applied sciences, or other fields related to the position.
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service.
To be creditable, this experience would demonstrate a practical knowledge of the methods, materials, machinery, and facilities used in industrial production operations (which may include exploration, extraction, refining, manufacturing, or processing). This knowledge may have been gained in work such as:
Management or supervision of production operations.
Process or methods development involving production practices associated with chemical, mechanical, electronic, textile or food industries.
Development of specifications to define product requirements.
Sales engineering or buying that required a comprehensive knowledge of production operations.
Development of plans to determine material requirements and/or schedules for production management.
Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above.
