About the position:

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop and improve our Volvo Cars Charleston Plant, setting up the capability to produce 100% Electrical cars.

We are looking for a Shop Engineering Manager (SE mgr) for final assembly. You will be a main contributor in defining the most efficient setup for the assembly shop. It will be your responsibility utilize the Lean fundamentals and Performance analysis tools. You will be leading a team of engineers, process analysts and the launch team.

Project phase:

• Contribute to optimal product and process development with production competence and requirements in close cooperation with Manufacturing Engineering (ME).

• Set the prerequisites for a visual factory with optimal solutions/ tools for evaluating product performance.

• Secure KPIs such as efficiency, HPV, ergonomics, safety, quality etc (in cooperation with the production areas, ME )

• Together with the Shop Management Team (incl. Shop mgr, Maintenance, Production, Logistics, Quality and HR) you will continue to develop into becoming the best-in-class shop.

Running phase:

• Build efficiency of the process including elimination of waste of time, money, variation, materials, man-hours, machine time, quality losses etc,

• Support and ensure production in line balancing e.g. line speed changes and introduction of new products/processes from early involvement and onwards.

• Responsible for line layout (including material facade, placement of tooling etc) in running operation.

• Take the lead in the lean transformation and secure continuous improvements in order to reach Lean strategies and targets

• You'll apply Global Lean Fundamentals as a natural way of working, such as Value Stream Mapping, Value Driven Maintenance etc.

Do you fit the profile?

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required

• 5+ years of relevant engineering and management experience

• Leader with solid communications skills

• Knowledge of industrial, maintenance, production and/or logistic processes

• Automotive manufacturing experience preferred

• Process design experience

• Experience working globally, with a strategic mindset

• Desire to lead and to help develop people
