Trinity Structural Towers is searching for Painters to join our team at our Tulsa, OK plant.

Trinity Structural Towers, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of structural wind towers in North America.

The Coatings team at Trinity Structural Towers makes the company's wind towers shine. As a Painter, you will prepare materials, surfaces, and structures for coverage with paint, laminate, rubber, or other material. Operates conventional and airless spray equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metal and other types of surfaces. Mixes and applies alkyds, epoxies, gel coats, powder coats, urethane, zinc epoxies or water borne paint systems according to a prescribed formula. Adjust nozzles on spray guns to obtain the proper dispersion of the spray and monitors the flow and viscosity of the paint or solution. Cleans paint lines, paint guns and performs other cleaning preventative maintenance. To ensure that painting apparatus remains in working order. Regulates temperature and air circulation in drying ovens. Follows all safety rules and practices. Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll do:

  • Prepares painting area

  • May metalize or apply primer

  • Proficiently applies spray and hand-held coatings (metalizing or priming)

  • Prepares paint and/or mixes paint

  • Understands curing process

  • Follows all safety rules and practices

  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives

What you'll need:

  • Prefer candidate with 1 year paint experience or ability to learn paint process quickly

  • Prefer candidate with LEAN standardized processes for paint or the ability to learn the LEAN standardized processes

  • Prefer basic knowledge of mill gauge and pressure monitors or the ability to learn

  • Shift hours are: 6:00 a.m.

  • 2:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

  • 11:30 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY We are currently seeking a Paint Lead. This position is directly responsible for assisting the Paint/Shipping Supervisor in all aspects of managing the paint department. Participate in all day-to-day activities in the paint department, with a focus on throughput and continuous improvement. Helps create and promote a performance-based culture through the use of departmental metrics and daily production meetings while providing training and guidance to the department to keep it operating at a high level of efficiency to maximize results. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Assists in directing, mentoring, training, coaching and motivating all paint personnel. * Conducts daily crew meetings. * Communicates new or revised directives from management to paint personnel. * Communicates daily and weekly performance metrics in the absence of the Paint/Shipping Supervisor. * Performs all duties of the Paint/Shipping Supervisor related to the Paint Department in his absence. * Responsible for the procurement of all organic coatings. * Proficient in the interpretation of customer and specification requirements. * Responsible for establishing, implementing and documenting the training program for all Painter personnel. * Communicates the need for equipment, training and service needs to the Paint/Shipping Supervisor. * Responsible for establish and implementing training programs for Painter 1, 2 and 3 personnel. * Oversees the maintenance of all equipment within the Paint Department. * Coordinates instrument calibration requirements with the Quality Department. * Maintains shelf life requirements to remove expired coatings from the paint storage area and place them in the bond room. * Assists the Paint /Shipping Supervisor with performance reviews and disciplinary actions. * Assists the Paint/Shipping Supervisor with the review of quality non-conformances received from the customer. * Participates in the Corrective Action Process. * Initiates and supports in the implementation of continuous improvement projects in the Paint Department. * Participates in a team environment to develop methods to efficiently rework parts within the department. * Provides information to the Customer Service Department to aid in the resolutions of any issues that concerning the Paint Department. * Verifies that all Paint Department documents are completed on time and accurately. * Keep the paint area clean and organized per company Ultraclean/6S requirements. * Observe all safety requirements and enforce the use all required safety equipment. * Attend annual EPS/NESHAP 6H refresher training. * Assists in the scheduling of painter personnel to ensure shift coverage. * Manages time effectively to ensure that all production, quality and delivery schedules are met. * Oversees all painter personnel to ensure that all job requirements are being met. * Reads and understands work order requirements. * Identifies parts with printed and/or electronic pictures. * Identifies all types of organic coatings. * Racks, preps, turns, and solvent-cleans production parts prior to the application of organic coatings. * Shakes, mixes, and applies all primers (including non-chromate primers), flat semi-gloss and gloss topcoats, fuel tank coatings, dry film lubricants, sol-gel coatings, anti-chafe coatings and anti-skid/walkway coatings, in accordance with work order instructions and manufacturers technical data sheet. * Troubleshoots problems associated with applying these coatings. * Operates force cure ovens. * Maintains all types of spray guns and pressure pots, and instructs all Painter personnel in maintenance techniques. * Performs routine maintenance on paint booths. * Performs routine maintenance on MEK Recycler. * Handles and transports hazardous waste in accordance with environmental and safety regulations. * Available to work overtime when required, including weekends. * Performs other duties as assigned by the Paint/Packaging Supervisor. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES * High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates that do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for the role. * Previous experience in painting is required. * Leadership experience preferred. * Ability to read and comprehend American English is required. * Proficiency in using the LMI's Work Order Tracking System and the LMI SharePoint Site is required. * Presentation skills are desired. * Exhibits professionalism when communicating with superiors and subordinates. * Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge in a fast-paced environment is required. * Ability to troubleshoot and correct problems is required. * Ability to work independently and within a team environment is required. * Ability to follow verbal or written directions is required. * Interpersonal verbal and written skills are required. * Ability to handle stressful situations is required. * Good organizational skills are required. * Ability to delegate jobs effectively is required. * Good problem-solving skills are required. * Attention to detail is required. * Motivational skills are required * High ethical standards are required.
