Total Fiber Recovery of Chesapeake (TFRC) is a joint venture between Oregon-based Total Fiber Recovery, a subsidiary of Bulk Handling Systems, and the Swedish company CellMark Inc. This new facility will annually produce over 200,000 tons of recycled pulp from mixed paper (MP) and cardboard (OCC). The facility is under construction with operations start expected in April 2024.

Due to the new launch, TFRC is seeking an Industrial Journeyman Electrician and Instrumentation for the facility located in Chesapeake, Virginia.

The Journeyman E/I is tasked with maintaining the equipment in a new facility which pulps recycled materials and processes that pulp into bales.

If you have these qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities…

  • Ability to work the DuPont schedule, which consists of rotating 12 hour shifts, typically working 14 days out of 28, generally with 2 weekends off per month. Ability to attend occasional meetings on off days. Start up period will have a temporary schedule of Monday - Friday day shift.

  • Journeyman or proof of completion of related college or apprenticeship program required

  • 5+ years of Instrumentation and Electrical experience in a production maintenance environment

  • Experience as an Electrical Technician, Gas Turbine Electrician or Interior Communication Electrician a plus

  • Strong Electrical and Mechanical aptitude required with extensive troubleshooting experience

  • Basic understanding and capable of troubleshoot/repair Siemens Programable Logic Controllers, SCADA, Ignition, and Siemens drives is strongly preferred

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mill wide electrical power systems, working with single phase and 3-phase AC VAC 120/240, and 480 and working with DC voltages ranging from 12, 24 and 500 VDC

  • Ability to read and understand Industrial Electrical and Instrumentation Drawings and PLC Ladder Logic required

  • An operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, solenoids, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial / electronic controls, and power transmission systems

  • Experience in using electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, ammeters, meggers and cable and network testers required

  • Experience with variable frequency drives, motor control centers, and field instruments (i.e., proximity switches, photo eyes, pressure, flow, temperature, level and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators and PID controllers) is necessary

  • A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and instrumentation drawings

  • Experience working in safety-centric industrial setting where preventative measures (i.e. lock out/tag out) must be performed in order to to avoid hazards (i.e. electric shock, arc flash)

  • NFPA 70E training a plus

  • Possess computer skills including MS Office and ability to quickly learn new process control software

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, climbing, stooping, standing, working at heights, working in confined spaces, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours/day in a loud/noisy, hot, humid, sometimes dusty, and a high-volume work environment

  • Maintaining electrical distribution equipment and components

  • Troubleshooting and replacing drives and inverters

  • Troubleshooting motors, PLC's, and field instruments such as flowmeters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, solenoids, and switches

  • Making preventative care rounds and lubricate a limited number of motors

  • Working with the shift Millwright and Operators to change motors, valves, etc. as needed

  • Troubleshooting and repair valves

  • Working with remote support to troubleshoot drives

  • Reading and interpreting PLC logic to help diagnose issues/troubleshoot problems

  • Tuning control loops as needed

  • Recording work results in written log and a computerized maintenance system

  • Working as part of a team and finding solutions to issues and problems

  • Assisting in troubleshooting hydraulics

  • Communicating on radios and phones as needed to make repairs

  • Supporting a safe working environment by maintaining strict adherence to safety rules and regulations and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules
