The primary responsibility of this position is to provide Industrial Hygiene (IH) support for the Natural Gas Pipeline Business Unit. The Natural Gas Pipeline Business Unit covers a variety of facility types that include refrigerated gas processing, cryogenic gas processing, gas treating for H2S and CO2, LNG vaporization terminals, offshore platforms, natural gas compressor stations, pipelines, equipment fabrication yards, meter stations, and office personnel located throughout the US.
The position is located in Houston, TX. The individual will need the knowledge and experience in the IH profession to make independent decisions on training and expenditures along with being able to implement and enhance IH programs within the NG Pipeline Business Unit.
Specific responsibilities include:Anticipating, recognizing, and assessing work-related health risks associated with chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic hazards and advising line management on suitable risk prevention or control measures and ongoing risk management strategies.Providing advice on professional, regulatory and/or Company standards, and exposure limits regarding the adequacy of workplace risk mitigation measures or controls.Managing and coordinating data acquisition, as well as oversight of the electronic SDS system.Determining appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies and ability to conduct these activities.Updating the IH equipment inventory and ensuring the proper maintenance, custody, operation, and calibration of a variety of sampling and monitoring equipment.Evaluating and interpreting monitoring and sampling results, making determinations, developing corrective strategies, and preparing accurate and complete technical reports of IH trends and survey/sampling outcomes.Reporting timely information to line management on the ongoing performance of all work-related health risk management programs and survey/sampling outcomes. This includes communications with contractor EHS management when applicable.Providing appropriate professional responses to health-related incidents as well as support and advice on health-related incident investigations.Reviewing site work of contractors for compliance with Company industrial hygiene requirements.Providing advice to management on the impact associated with new and evolving legislation and/or Company/industry standards/practices.Carrying out and/or overseeing closure of IH - related compliance tasks from various internal action item tracking systems.Collaborating with other IH professionals and providing IH support and guidance to Safety professionals and NG Safety leadership.Developing and delivering training on IH - related subjects.Managing and monitoring contracts for established IH programs (ex. audiometric testing) as well as participating in developing contracts for obtaining resources to evaluate emerging issues.Thorough review of invoices for services rendered to ensure accuracy and appropriateness for the services provided to the Company and maintain budget vs. actual cost forecasting for these programs.The Candidate is required to have a 4 year BA degree in IH or equivalent.
Additional accreditation as a CSP and/or CIH is preferred but not required. This should be coupled with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the profession at similar facilities
