Job Description
This group primarily focuses on end user / owner direct contractual relationships in sectors like pulp and paper, building materials, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical blend plants. Due to our desire for responsible growth, we are now seeking additional expertise within our highly motivated estimating department. The position will report to the Vice President of the Industrial Group but will have daily interaction with our Pre-Construction Manager and estimating support team.
  • Coordinates the pre-construction interface between sales and estimating to make sure estimating capacity and capabilities are used in the most productive and beneficial matter possible to achieve sales and marketing goals.
  • Utilizes market condition information, knowledge of customer needs and competition capabilities, market niche histories, and the capabilities and availability of internal resources to meet current and projected workload needs.
  • Develops, monitors and manages department processes and procedures to ensure department output realizes maximum productivity with the lowest attendant value of acceptable risk.
Job Requirements
  • 8+ years in mechanical contracting working as an estimator or similar function.
  • Experience in system costs for various applications and building types.
  • Interview experience in construction project presentations
  • Extensive knowledge of how corporate objectives impact estimating, estimating strategies and techniques and of various types of construction contracts.
  • Able to interpret contractual documents, plans, specifications.
  • Some courses in basic mechanical systems and engineering concepts.
  • Proficiency with computerized estimating systems.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft office suite.
  • Minimum of college degree or equivalent.

VIEW JOBS 11/1/2018 8:06:29 PM 2019-01-30T20:06 <p>Seeking a MEP  Estimator with at least 5 years of commercial construction experience in markets such as healthcare, higher ed, life sciences, advanced technology, corporate office.  Estimators will work primarily on negotiated commercial projects within the above core markets and work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors. Responsibilities for this position and required skills include:<br />  </p> <ul> <li>Handling the project from first estimate all the way through subcontracts being formalized.</li> <li>Ability to look beyond the information that has been given, to ask the right questions and work to provide a complete project cost evaluation.</li> <li>Must be a collaborative and passionate advocate for customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project.</li> <li>Must be aggressive in providing innovative solutions to complex issues as they arise related to cost, lead-times, trade partners, and/or specified products or materials.</li> <li>Ability to make reliable predictions as it relates to cost and be comfortable estimating across all scopes of work.</li> <li>Must have experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility level documentation.</li> <li>Ability to prepare detailed estimates and as the design evolves, develop variance summaries between estimates and value engineering studies throughout.</li> <li>Ability to assemble a complete presentation-worthy estimate package that clearly communicates project cost.</li> <li>Must be able to collaborate with project team to establish the necessary staffing and project requirements.</li> <li>Must have knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost.</li> <li>Ability to prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages.</li> <li>Must have experience with the bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, using bid tally sheets, etc.</li> <li>Make subcontractor award recommendations to the customer/owner and negotiate and finalize subcontracts with trade partners.</li> <li>Must be prepared to participate and often lead the preparation and presentation of cost / budget information to the customer/owner.</li> <li>Must have experience being a member of the team involved in request for proposal responses (RFP’s) and the formal presentation for a project.</li> <li>Able to engage and develop business with new and existing customers.</li> </ul> <p> </p> Qualifications  <p>Looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
