Ensures operation of machinery including mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic equipment by troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and calibrating industrial equipment and test equipment throughout Technical Operations in accordance with approved manuals and procedures. This includes completing repairs and preventive maintenance on motors and controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), robotics including Fanuc and ABB systems, pneumatic systems, stock retrievers, conveyor systems, production machines, industrial ovens, and machine shop equipment. Must be proficient in the use of diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions and maintain equipment.

Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and troubleshooting using precision measuring and testing instruments.

Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

Adjusts functional parts of devices and/or controllers using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straightedges, electronic test equipment to include digital multi-meters, ammeters, and mechanical measuring including pressure gauges, force gauges, temperature gauges, and dimensional instruments. This includes returning tolerances to within manufacturer specifications to include calibration of equipment.

Must be able to work safely, utilizing proper protective equipment at all times and apply the concept of LOTO (Lockout / Tagout).

Controls downtime by informing production Leads of routine preventive maintenance techniques.

Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Provides maintenance information to others by answering questions and requests.

Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; cross-training, reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.

Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing requirements to complete the job.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Contributes to team effort by assisting and accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Must have minimum of five years' experience in an industrial maintenance repair and support role or equivalent experience. Must have experience with industrial AC/DC controls, high and low voltage systems.

Must be proficient in trouble shooting and repair of electrical circuits including motors and variable frequency drives. Must be proficient in reading and comprehending mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience with some programming experience in the following systems is required; Allen Bradly PLC5, SLC 500, SLC 5000, Micro Logix and Direct Logix systems.

Applicant must have good mechanical ability with above average problem solving skills and the ability to work independently in a variety of environments. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and provide outstanding customer service. Must be able to read and write at a level to comprehend and apply information contained in detailed and complex technical manuals, procedural manuals, blueprints, etc. with no assistance.

Must have the ability to work without close supervisory direction and to complete the job without assignment of tasks. Must have already achieved the status of a "Qualified Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician" in Dept 589 by successfully demonstrating proficiency on a minimum of 2 maintenance lines. Must meet the physical requirements which include the ability to lift at least 70 pounds. Internal candidates must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

Job Title: Service Technician - Class II to V (Atlanta) Job Summary: Service and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning and related environmental control systems utilizing knowledge of heating, refrigeration and, pipefitting theory. Class III will work with a wide range of refrigerants and complex systems with multiple compressors. Class IV/V will work with compound refrigeration, large built up & reciprocating systems, centrifugal and rotary screw chillers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Troubleshoot, repair/replace and service HVAC equipment and controls ranging from 1-60+ tons cooling capacity. (Class IV/V must be able to troubleshoot and service centrifugal and rotary screw chillers). * Schedule preventive maintenance and respond to service calls for assigned customer contract base. * Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solders joints, using torch forming complete circuit for refrigerant. * Repair or replace motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating-ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source. * Repair leaks, leak test & add refrigerant to build up prescribed operating pressure on all systems. * Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment. * Assist other technicians as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Three or more years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience as described in job overview. Must possess good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to ensure effective teamwork and customer relations. Universal CFC certification is required. Must possess valid drivers license and meet MVR requirements to operate company vehicle. Must be available for some overtime, on-call, and weekend work, especially during spring and summer. Language Skills Must possess good communication skills (verbal and written). Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
