Job Description

Job Title: Industrial Engineering Intern

Department: Indirect

Reports To: Quality Manager

SUMMARY: Supports the manufacturing efforts of Paladin under the direction of the Quality Manager, with support from the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, which includes the development and implementation of processes in order to improve manufacturing methods and efficiency of operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Assists in developing, evaluating and improving manufacturing methods and quality standards.

  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

  • Analyzes work center standards and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • Confers with Manufacturing and Engineering staff concerning product design, tooling and fixtures to ensure efficient production methods.

  • Evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Assists all factory departments in the development of work standards for each area and the development of a Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) for each manufacturing operation.

  • Assists in the development of the Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA)/Control Plan.

  • Assists in the Quality at the Source implementation and maintenance.

  • Establishes, documents and implements preventative maintenance and safety procedures.

  • Assists with the implementation of Lean manufacturing initiatives for Paladin.

  • Participates in maintaining ISO 9001:2008 standards for all departments, which includes standards of work, value streams, and certifications.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering or other related field; or equivalent work experience; or a combination of education and equivalent work experience required.

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • A thorough knowledge of Lean principles and practices and established manufacturing procedures.

  • Strong computer background, including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience using SolidWorks or comparable 3-D modeling software.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Inventory Analyst is responsible to manage Inventory Accuracy and Continuous Improvement activities to support operational and business objectives relating to Inventory Control. This role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to address process deficiencies and improvement initiatives. Through research and analysis, the Analyst will provide data-driven insight to develop and execute an inventory control strategy to exceed department and division goals. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. * Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices. Key accountabilities: * Responsible for cycle count process which includes cycle count generation, printing and distributing cycle counts, enter cycle count data, post cycle count once approved. * Responsible to plan and implement material organization. * Coordinate with Engineering and Purchasing and to analyze all new product launches and manage inventory for all items. * Plans and executes data analysis, research, and systems/process implementation. * Interprets data, analyzing results using statistical techniques and providing ongoing reports. * Consults with plant leadership to gather and interpret data and provide process/system guidance. * Identifies opportunities for improvement based on industry best practices and work with appropriate internal resources. * Collaborates with internal resources to implement strategy and process enhancements. * Maintain, update, and report on root-cause data related to inventory adjustments. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and training to reduce errors at their root cause. * Identify inventory accuracy related cost savings and process improvement opportunities. May act as a participant or leader on inventory related Kaizen events. * Document procedures, processes related to inventory accuracy. Provide training/coaching as needed. * Collaborate with relevant departments on projects to define and document requirements for new functionality, test solutions, and support implementation. * Organize data and conduct analysis to research and troubleshoot operational deficiencies. Adhere to a standard processes for evaluation and provide appropriate communication on the problem and resolution. * Filter and "clean" data by reviewing reports and performance indicators to locate and correct system problems * Work with plant/division leadership to prioritize reporting and data sharing needs. * Perform all other duties as required, to meet customer and company quality and productivity needs. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree. Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain management major preferred. * Minimum 2 years proven experience with data mining and analysis. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and query tools. * Demonstrated Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, basic query function) * Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with people at all levels of the organization as well as external customers, vendors. * Strong systems and analytical skills including gathering facts, figures and concepts into a concise management summary with recommendations and action plans. * Experience with ERP systems required; Proficiency in Syteline (Infor) preferred. * Ability to develop and execute action plans, with success, as an individual or as a leader in a team environment. * Lean certification a plus. job competencies: * Problem Solving Analysis * Communication Proficiency * Customer Client/Focus * Initiative * Results Driven Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
