This position will be responsible for working within a cross-functional team to provide manufacturing support in analyzing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes to optimize Quality, On-Time Delivery, and Cost with an emphasis on Safety. Implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles, development of assembly processes and associated tooling including application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) may be required. Analysis of products for producibility and improvements to address design deficiencies may be required.
Work with others to devise Lean assembly processes focused on high quality levels, low variability, high flexibility, and predictable flow.
Write and direct the preparation and maintenance of assembly process procedures.
Act as project engineer on Capital equipment projects from conceptual stage through equipment selection, ordering, and process implementation.
Conceive and specify assembly methodology for electronics products.
Design fixtures and special tools to aid and control assembly processes or address safety concerns.
Prepare work station or equipment layouts for new production and modify layouts to incorporate changes.
Work with line supervisory personnel to determine operation-manning requirements and make recommendations.
Utilize line-balancing techniques to specify operator loading and production flow.
Provide liaison service between Production, operating groups, and Design Engineering for root cause analysis and corrective action.
Develop cost improvement analysis for alternate methods, parts, tooling, or equipment.
Evaluate employee suggestions and incorporate changes where applicable.
Provide input for Preventive Maintenance of Process Equipment.
Assignment Complexity: Creative, cost effective solutions supporting site goals and customer requirements is essential.
Accountability: Position affords opportunity for independent action while adhering to departmental Quality, On-time Delivery, Cost, and Safety goals.
Impact of Decisions: Position has considerable impact on expense and capital budgets and the general direction of the plant's Lean transformation.
Working Relationships: Requires interfacing with production personnel, management, and other support organizations. Solid communication skills are paramount to the success of this position.
Must be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. US Citizenship is required.
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
