Your responsiblities We are currently seeking an Industrial Engineer to be based out of Detroit, MI or surrounding areas. The Industrial Engineer will be an expert in all of the warehouse, logistical and Supply Chain processes, with specific knowledge of best practices and physical constraints. The IE will develop a comprehensive knowledge of the warehouse management system and DC Director Warehouse control system in order to recognize system constraints and assist in developing solutions. The IE is also responsible for modeling potential process changes to predict throughput improvements and realize possible pit-falls. The key responsibilities of the Industrial Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:
Lead and support the development of best-in-class operating solutions in the areas of warehousing design and/or supply chain operations. Solutions include consideration of all operational elements including but not limited to cost, service requirements, operational processes, utilization of technology/IT, equipment requirements/selection, facility layout and MHE selections related to staffing plans
Analyze potential and existing operations and provide improvement recommendations for new and existing customer solutions
Create pricing and financial models for proposed and existing operating solutions. Lead internal reviews of thyssenkrupp's cost models and the construction of customer pricing. Support commercial leadership in the development of internal and external commercial explanations of thyssenkrupp solutions
Reduce travel and cycle times to ensure accuracy and on time delivery of our services
Take part in continuous improvement projects
Perform root cause analysis on cost and productivity data that significantly differs from projections
Identify, develop, and implement physical layout and process improvements that impact space utilization, process flow, and employee productivity. Be active from specification to implementation in the design and justification of new equipment to improve process and delivery of thyssenkrupp services
Must possess an understanding of automation through the entire fulfillment process, process flows, inventories, variances and counting techniques
Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Engineering
Ability to prepare and make comprehensive preparations, participates in formal debate, communicate extemporaneously, and professionally communicate before an audience
3-5 years of progressive experience as an Industrial Engineer in the automotive, distribution or manufacturing environment
Prior experience and a proven track record of designing and developing operational processes, warehouse flow and labor management
Able to assimilate data from a variety of sources, analyze and recommend appropriate courses of action to take
Experience with lean tools and methodologies (i.e. Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, 5s and Visual Controls, Kaizen)
Communicate business process enhancements and prioritization of solution requests and approved projects within the business process areas, ensuring that projects / requests align with the technology that best provides maximum return on investment
Typical automotive Industrial Engineering practices/tools such as use of CAD, material flow analysis software, Labor Standard Development/Work Measurement, Line Balancing, Labor Utilization, etc.
Experience with warehouse management systems such as JDA Warehouse Management.
