Albertsons Companies is working to become the favorite food and drug retailer in every market it serves. Our new Distribution Center in Denver, PA is looking for an Industrial Engineer to join our great team!

The Industrial Engineer will provide exceptional service to our internal customers by improving quality, reducing costs, and increasing productivity via safe methods, optimized procedures, equipment and systems to support our stores in becoming the Favorite Local Supermarket.


Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct industrial engineering distribution labor studies

  • Establish computer based productivity labor standards

  • Develop methods for tracking and reporting warehouse and transportation key performance indicators

  • Analyze and support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives

  • Document process changes and ensure SOPs are updated

  • Maintain labor tables in WMS / LMS

  • Assist in training operations staff on Lean Principles; work sampling, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans

  • Train operations staff on the development and implementation of labor standards at the division level

  • Analyze and develop distribution and transportation cost savings opportunities

  • Evaluate and advise distribution management on potential operational improvements

  • Conduct labor audits and time studies to validate and ensure the reasonableness and soundness of all implemented labor standards

  • Ensure standards are developed in a manner that meets the test of scrutiny from Labor Union. Interact with Union officials as necessary to support the reasonableness and soundness of developed labor standards

  • Provide support for the facilitation of lean events and validation of cost savings

  • Assist with the maintenance of drop zones for transportation

  • Compliance for COOL

  • Compliance for Sarbanes Oxley

  • Audit and ensure accuracy rates for the division


Education Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field equivalent experience

  • MTM and/or Basic MOST certification preferred

  • Six Sigma Black / Green Belt preferred

Skills and Experiences:

  • 3 years experience in Industrial Engineering

  • 3 years experience in distribution operations

  • Experience with labor standards

  • In-depth knowledge of Warehousing and Transportation Operations

  • Experience dealing with collective bargaining units


  • May spend long periods of time in the warehouse performing work sampling or time study

  • Some work to be performed in a temperature-controlled environment (cool/frozen warehouses)

  • Bending, stooping and pivoting as well as running or fast-paced walking will be required periodically

  • Uses calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment during a normal workday.

  • Workday is fast paced.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 30% (shared position between Shaw's and Acme)

General Summary Studies all facets of manufacturing, organizes action plans as to what and how to collect the pertinent data to be used as decision support. Primary Responsibilities: * Problem Solving: Collects and analyzes data for the purpose of solving problems & making recommendations on matters that are important to the cost structure of the manufacturing operation. * Identify cost savings opportunities across operations through completing people & material flow and time studies as well as data analytics. * Lead and execute projects to optimize process and reduce waste in time, materials, energy. * Providing Information: Interprets data from a host of sources and creates concise and user-friendly charts, graphs, reports, and other modes of conveying information to diverse audiences. Must be able to tailor the mode and style of communications to best fit the target audience. * Financial Responsibility: In the role of team-leader or team-member on one or more teams, has responsibility for the attainment of team objectives which are usually translatable into financial measures. The IEs responsibility in this team framework also includes determination of and documentation of the financial goals. * Assist with the daily production reconciliation and reporting functions as required. * Sets priorities and allocates industrial engineering resources to support plant operations Job Complexity: * Downtime Analysis & Corrective Action: Determines the best method in which to gather the appropriate data and perform experiments and studies for the purpose of making recommendations for performance improvement. Assignments are usually vague with no well-defined method of accomplishment. The I.E. must draw upon his/her logical problem solving abilities, analytical abilities, detailed knowledge of the operation, and the use of specialized tools normally learned in an Industrial Engineering curricula (work sampling, flowcharting, methods analysis, critical path analysis, simulation, lean/6 sigma concepts, etc. * Flexibility in Communications: The I.E. must consider the complexity and sensitivity of the information to be conveyed and the argument being presented, as well as the sensitivities and level of understanding of the intended audience. These factors must be carefully considered and the style of communications adjusted in order to properly convey the information in a logical, coherent fashion, such that the audience understands. More often than not, the audience consists of people with very diverse needs, levels of education, and abilities to comprehend technical matters. * Yields Analysis- Studies problems associated with ingredient and filling yields, researches reasons for losses, and works with different teams to resolve the issue. * Work Sampling, Flowcharting, Methods Analysis, Critical Path Analysis, and Simulation.
