Industrial Engineer Summer Internship (33523)

Site Overview:

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Senior Materials & Planning Manager, this position will serve to help drive improvement to our processes to maximize production flow without negatively affecting cost. They will also help champion our safety program during the course of their internship. Interns will collaborate with quality, engineering, and continuous improvement teams to further or complete projects.

Essential Duties:

• Drafts new Work Instructions and update/obsolete existing Work Instructions, as needed.

• Works directly with key production cells to improve output and reduce scrap.

• Assists with updates to Safety system including updating the SDS and Chemical Lists.

• Coordinates with warehouse team to re-layout the warehouse to optimize customer order pick flow and other picking processes.

Related Duties: This position will also be responsible for assisting Production, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Materials team as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Training and Experience

• Currently a sophomore, junior or senior pursuing an industrial engineering degree. Other majors/degrees will be considered based on overall qualifications and match of their skills to a business environment.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

• Must be results-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects in a dynamic work environment.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Intermediate MS Excel skills, or better, strongly preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment with little managerial direction.

Physical Requirements:

• Minimal work around warehouse. No heavy lifting required. Primarily working at desk or on production floor.

• Office environment, with Sitting and Standing for long periods of time.

• Occasional exposure to manufacturing plant environment, with some abnormal variations in temperature, unavoidable fumes, noise, dust and atmospheric conditions.

• Periodic lifting or moving objects 40 lbs. or less.
