Overall Scope
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing problems for a 600,000 square foot state of the art Distribution Center in Shawnee, KS using engineering, business (financial), logistics, and human resources-related principles while developing solutions to such problems. Develop new approaches and techniques to labor management in order to improve productivity and accuracy within the distribution network.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; distribution environment preferred
- Lean Six Sigma certification (min. Green Belt), including proficiency in process improvement utilizing Six Sigma
- Experience with time studies, work measurement, engineering standards, and data collection
- Proficient in Excel, Access, Auto CAD/drafting, and MS office
- Macro or VBA experience and SQL a plus
- Ability to develop ROI for capital projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as with internal and external clients
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with greenfield developments
- Experience with warehouse automation
- Experience with voice-based picking systems
- Experience in Warehouse and Distribution environment utilizing Engineered Labor Standards
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviews employees and department productivity and partners with operations to develop action plans to improve performance
- Directs or conducts studies to ascertain the best sequence of operations or workflow
- Recommends methods to ensure the maximum utilization of facilities and human resources
- Prepares cost estimates for assigned projects
- Identifies and develops best practices / SOP's to improve efficiency and provide consistent output at the distribution center
- Recommends and implements material handling and information systems that encompass distribution
- Develops financial and operational plans on a daily, weekly, and annual basis
- May assist in establishing accident prevention measures and production operations training programs
- Additional duties as assigned
Ergonomic Focus

- Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

- Ability to type and use computer and telephone equipment
