With the addition of a new electric steering product line, Nexteer is looking for motivated candidates with high energy, a positive attitude and a desire to lead change to grow our Central Industrial Engineering Group. The candidate will work in the Central Manufacturing Engineering organization to coordinate and set up manufacturing for new implementation. There is the ability to work with global team members and global travel.

This position:

  • Completes cost estimates for new program pursuits

  • Leads the design of the manufacturing system for new programs

  • Coordinate the design of the full manufacturing value stream and analyze to ensure the built in quality and high capacity and resource utilization.

  • Design all standardized work to support the manufacturing sequence, prepare documentation to support, and communicate to plant personnel.

  • Ensure that all equipment, material handling, and containers are designed to support the standardized work plan, meet all ergonomic requirements, and are installed as designed.

  • Ensure involvement of all necessary or responsible functions to ensure the best possible manufacturing system design

  • Quantify the effect of product design, process design or foot print decisions with respect to cost, quality, inventory, or lead time.

  • Supports the development of the manufacturing strategy for a product line

  • Analyze capacity and utilization at manufacturing sites to ensure the manufacturing system is properly set up to allow full utilization of equipment for current and future programs.

  • Analyze value stream costs and determine how to improve

  • Create an organized capacity baseline to allow quick response to new proposals

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High level of analytical skills

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office)

  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and practices

  • Good structured problem solving skills (Shanin/Six Sigma)

  • Knowledge of TS-16949 and ISO-14001

Bachelor Degree in Engineering Required (Industrial Engineering preferred)
