The Industrial Engineer:

  • Plans, performs and implements process improvement initiatives (such as Lean or Six Sigma)

  • Diagrams and evaluates existing processes

  • Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams

  • Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities

  • Collects data to identify root cause of problems. Measures performance against process requirements

  • Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls. Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality

  • May deliver presentations and training courses including measurement, analysis, improvement and control

  • Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes

  • Communicates team progress

  • Performs cost and benefit analyses

Minimum Requirements:
2 years' experience in project management or process improvement

Critical Skills:

  • 1-2 years' experience in a distribution or manufacturing setting

  • Experience with engineered labor standards

  • Experience with labor management software

  • Demonstrated initiative and confident decision maker

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Access and Excel

  • Superior organizational, analytical, problem solving, and project management skills

Additional Knowledge &

Skills:
  • Experience in the implementation of engineered labor standards

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified

Education:
4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience

This position is based in our <strong>Conroe Woodlands, Texas</strong> location, but will require travel to other locations in North America on a fairly regular basis (50% travel).<br /> <br /> The<strong> </strong><strong>Industrial Maintenance Mechanic</strong> <strong> </strong>/ <strong>Project Engineer </strong>position is a hands-on "MacGyver" type of person that has excellent experience with fixing blow molding machines. On the Project Engineering side, they are accountable for the planning, development, design, and coordination of manufacturing improvements.<br /> <br /> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong> <ul> <li>Evaluate manufacturing processes to improve product quality,</li> <li>Process efficiencies and machine reliability;</li> <li>improve work flow; validate improvements implemented; preparation of manufacturing process documentation; conduct failure analyses.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Rebuild/upgrade blow molders. </strong></p> <ul> <li>Inspect the machine and determine what is needed to meet the specifications of the project.</li> <li>Submit a project plan for approval including a preliminary budget and timeline.</li> <li>Make drawings if necessary, get quotes, write the capital and order the parts.</li> <li>Tear the machine down.</li> <li>Reassemble the machine themselves and using intercompany resources as required.</li> <li>Start up the machine and troubleshoot it until it is functioning correctly.</li> <li>Provide training on the machine if it has changed.</li> <li>Various other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Must have a minimum of 5 years prior Mechanic with Project Engineering and project management experience.</li> <li>Must have basic drafting experience using AutoCad.</li> <li>Must be able to read, write and speak English.
