What You Will Do

The Industrial Engineer is primarily responsible for partnering across SC Industrial Engineering, Operations, and other cross functional teams to drive facility performance including productivity, accuracy, capacity, and efficiency. This role performs daily management of engineered standards, translating business plans into tactical action, reporting, and production support. Broader responsibilities include project management, business analysis, budgeting support, facility layout, product flow, and change management. The Industrial Engineer also manages department talent including hiring, training, performance management, support and staff development in addition to working closely with associates to set personal goals and drive performance improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • Required to work a set schedule that meets the needs of the facility.

  • May be asked to work mornings, afternoons, nights, and/or weekends based on the needs of the facility.

  • Must work in a distribution/warehouse environment with the physical and environmental aspects typically associated with such environment.

  • Minimally must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance; ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

What You Need To Succeed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field (or equivalent work experience in industrial engineering field

  • Experience with time and motion studies

  • Experience developing and implementing engineered labor standards

  • Experience working with a warehouse management system

  • Experience managing a cross-functional project from conception to implementation

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Experience using MS Office programs including Excel and Access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field

  • 1 year of experience in industrial engineering

  • Experience using a warehouse management system

  • Bi-lingual skills, if applicable to the facility

VIEW JOBS 9/27/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-12-26T00:00 Mechanical Engineer Status: Exempt (salaried) Department: Mechanical Engineering Job Location: Latham, NY The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the specification, analysis, testing and integration of mechanical and electromechanical components and subsystems used in fuel cell systems, such as pumps, blowers, fans, compressors, heat exchangers, separators, sensors, switches, solenoids, motors and motor controllers, tanks, pressure regulators, flow controls, etc. This role requires close interaction with the systems, electrical, controls and packaging teams to ensure efforts are properly coordinated. The role also requires close interaction with the supply chain, suppliers, quality, CAD design, manufacturing and service teams to ensure that designs meet all cross-functional requirements. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering organization. The position reports to the Director of Mechanical Engineering. Core Duties and Responsibilities * Work with systems and electrical engineering teams to define requirements including performance, reliability, durability, inspection and test plans for a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical components and subsystems. * Conduct engineering analysis and calculations to define critical design parameters and predict performance * Create accurate, complete and concise engineering documentation to define critical components and subsystems' specifications and requirements including inspection, verification, and test plans * Optimize designs for system requirements. * Write clear test reports that can be used to verify engineering analysis and drive fact-based decisions. * Develop and maintain analytical models including FEA and/or CFD analyses * Help manage project schedules and resolve problems as necessary to deliver on product and functionality expectations. * Lead resolution of component/subsystem issues including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions * Coordinate design changes with the systems, electrical, controls and packaging teams. Lead design changes through the enterprise change process. * Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of Plug Power products and related understanding of existing designs and functionality. * Represent Plug Power in a professional manner. * Perform all other duties as assigned * Strictly follow all established company policies including EHS policies * Limited travel may be required Education and Experience * Minimum BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required * A minimum of three (3) years working experience in product development project-based engineering functions. * Solid understanding and experience on mechanical engineering principles and problem-solving methods. * Preferable to have experience with FEA and/or CFD. * Working knowledge of Vibration, Thermal or Fatigue analysis and design is highly desired. * Working knowledge with one or more industry codes and standards such as PED, ASME, UL/CSA, and European is preferred but not required. * Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders. * Uncompromising dedication to quality and result delivery. * Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail. * Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively. * Must be self-driven and self-motivated. * Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. * Strong verbal and written communication skills.
