Our Huntsville Engine Plant will be expanding and we are currently seeking a Lead Industrial Engineer to join our Huntsville team.

The Lead Industrial Engieer will be used to develop time studies in both Engine Assembly and Gearbox Assembly lines. The Industrial Engineer assures manufacturing processes are capable of meeting program cycle times. This position also assures operators/processes are fully loaded in order to deliver high operator utilization and maximum process efficiency.

  • Conduct time studies

  • Review work elements

  • Optimize labor balance

  • Prepare process layouts and work station layouts

  • Establish process flow to maximize efficiency

  • Organize material flow

  • Assist process engineers with development of assembly aids, fixtures and tools

  • Assist process engineers with implementation of new processes and tools

  • Plan for Every Part

Position Purpose

Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub assemblies and final assemblies. Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience

  • At least 1 year lead experience


  • Master's degree

  • At least 6 years of product manufacturing experience

  • At least 1 year lead experience


  • At least 10 years of product manufacturing experience

  • At least 1 year lead experience

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. In support to the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Program, and as part of the Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) organization, serve as Senior Technical Lead for the Interfaces Design Team responsible to ensure successful interface design development, documentation and integration of GMD Components and Subsystems into the GMD Weapon System and the GMD Element into the Ballistic Missile Defense System. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): * Minimum technical bachelor's degree * Broad Systems Engineering background with demonstrated experience with interface definition, development, design and verification * Must have experience working in close coordination and partnership with government customers while understanding the dynamics of developing products within a diverse team of multiple contractors and suppliers * Previous team lead responsibilities/experience * Exemplary communication skills with proven experience that spans engagement with customers, executives and engineers Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): * Experience on GMD or Missile Defense program desired * Experience as chair/co-chair of Interface Control Working Group or Engineering Review Board highly desired * EVMS experience desired Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
