The Industrial Engineer partners with the operations team to maintain a successful labor management program. This position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and Operational Support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates proven written and verbal communication skills in the execution of daily correspondence and methods documentation, to supervisors, peers and direct reports throughout the business
Demonstrates knowledge of fulfillment processes, material handling equipment and automation
Demonstrates knowledge of software technologies such as Warehouse Management Systems and Labor Management Systems
Partners with the DC leadership team to maintain an effective labor management program
Creates and maintains discrete engineered labor standards using pre-determined time measurement and other work measurement tools.
Maintains the setup and configuration of the labor management system. Trains supervisors and other users on the use of the labor management system.
Collaborates with internal and external resources to recommend and implement improvements to safety, processes, work methods, layouts, equipment/automation, work flows and software systems
Performs cost/benefit analysis to justify new solutions and changes to processes, work flow or other resources
Recommends best practices and improvements using lean, six-sigma and 5S methodologies
Performs research using data modeling, simulation, mathematical models and statistical data analysis
Creates equipment and facility layouts using AutoCAD to improve the efficiency and work flow of operations
Assists or leads operational excellence, continuous improvement, work measurement and/or labor management projects as needed
Requires travel based on business needs
Education and Experiences:
Completed Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering with 3+ years of relative experience in fulfillment and distribution
3+ of experience in work measurement and labor management systems
Experience working with Manhattan's WMS and LMS
Experience working in a retail E-commerce environment is preferred
Skills and abilities:
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong time-management skills.
Experience reading flow charts, schematics and blueprints.
Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities
Effective PC skills with MS Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, Access, Note, Teams) and AutoCAD.
Physical Requirements:
Lift, carry, push, pull, reach, grasp, bend and stoop for up to 8 hours at a time
Good hand/eye coordination
Ability to work around moving machinery/equipment
Stand for duration of work shift and walk/move continuously
Adjust to climate changes; hot and cold extremes may occur in warehouse
