We have an exciting Industrial Engineering intern position working for a Fortune 500 Electronics Company located in Fishkill, NY. Selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in 300mm advanced level semiconductor fab and will be able to learn/understand optimization of clean room microchip manufacturing operations. This is a very hands-on job working directly with customers in clean room manufacturing and support areas to plan and structure increased fab capacity and ramping up of production from beginning to end.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct time studies and work analysis to better define and document current way of operation and identification of potential improvement opportunities

  • Conduct process flow mapping showing step by step work tasks

  • Data collection, merging and reporting from different databases

  • Prepare capacity and simulation models based on different "what if" scenarios of future loadings

  • Prepare multiple versions of fab layout based on many different alternative options determine most optimum option

  • Ability prepare investment budget proposal and present to senior management with proper business case

  • Create factory specific ergonomic guidelines based on internationally accepted industry guidelines to minimize scrap during manual operations

  • Use principles of ergonomics to evaluate risk factors, work with subject matter experts to provide sound recommendations to reduce risks, implement controls and monitor effectiveness

  • Document design solutions using notes, sketches, CAD drawings, images or other means as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required education: minimum bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering - Graduate Degree is preferred

  • Students either in last year or 1 year prior of graduation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to diagnose problems, develop appropriate alternatives, and work with stakeholders to implement practical and effective solutions in a timely manner

  • Effective oral and written communication skills in order to communicate to company personnel on all levels and the ability to influence people without authority

  • Analytical and hands-on mechanical problem solving skills

  • Proficient with MS Office , advanced level in EXCEL is necessary (Macros, Formulas and etc)

  • AutoCad and/or Solidworks knowledge is a big plus

  • Intermediate level SQL knowledge is a big plus

  • Self-starter with the ability to plan, organize, delegate, and follow-up on work flow to meet project goals and objectives who takes initiative to create practical ideas and follow them on to completion

  • Able to work in a clean room environment and wear clean room attire

  • Working knowledge of quality tools (e.g. Quality Function Deployment, Pareto Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving Methods, Design of Experiments, 5S, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Six Sigma)

In this role, an engineer's responsibilities are to perform analysis of packaging and semiconductor components using advanced analytical techniques. These techniques will include some of the following as business needs dictate: Thermal Characterization such as Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermal Desorption Mass Spectroscopy (TDMS), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), X-ray Techniques such as X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and X-ray Reflectance (XRR), Surface Characterization using Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (TOFSIMS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) or Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), Advanced Imaging by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) using Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS or EDX) and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS), or Metallography Analysis using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) utilizing Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS or EDX) and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD), or other tools such as a Focused Ion Beam (FIB) tool for imaging and cutting, a 3 Dimensional X-ray imaging tool, a topography mapping tool or advanced optical microscopes.
