Operations Design at HDR
Operations Design encompasses both improvement of existing operational models as well as design and creation of new operating models at all scales. This is not just about efficiency; this is about value which optimizes the balance of quality and cost, experience and efficiency.
Operations Design at HDR works hand in hand with Research, Predictive Analytics, Computational Design, and Data Visualization team members to ensure that not only are we developing data driven solutions but we are doing so in such a way that builds upon work to date, anticipates future needs, allows the design to enable client goals, and tells the story in such a way that it can be understood and acted upon. Our group's foundation is the combination of Lean and Six Sigma methodology due to the impact both waste and variation have on complex environments and systems. Through these methods our team uses tools including but not limited to Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), 5S, 3P, Discrete Event Simulation, and Kaizen events to identify and reduce waste and variation whilst optimizing the human experience within a system.
We are looking for an Industrial Engineer with the ability and desire to not only apply these methods and tools from a technical perspective, but also to both verbally and visually tell the story in such a way that can be absorbed and acted upon by both internal staff and external clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for process improvement work with our healthcare clients in conjunction with healthcare planning.
The primary duties of this position is to develop models to improve efficiency and eliminate waste within healthcare processes, produce simulation models and assessments, facilitate and implement Lean Six Sigma techniques, utilize time and motion studies, create and present flow diagramming, perform data mining and statistical analysis, utilize risk management, and assist with facility planning as well as strategic planning.
This position will travel to client locations to gather, analyze and present findings, as well as market process improvement services. As an Advanced Simulation Specialist you will prepare and deliver simulation models, presentations and written reports for internal and external clients as well as conferences, scientific journals and other publications. Additional tasks include researching the latest simulation, healthcare and process improvement trends, participate with teams in proposal writing/other duties as assigned.
