Role Summary:

The Industrial Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and safety/quality standards; creates, verifies, and updates local manufacturing standards. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, tooling and equipment capabilities, fabrication processes, and assembly methods. Uses concepts of Lean and Continuous Improvement to improve operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities & Requirements:
  • Participates in or leads Continuous Improvement projects to eliminate process waste.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert in support of Design to Value and Design for Manufacturability on projects related to cost optimization, process improvement, and new product development.

  • Works with the Manufacturing Engineering team to deploy best practices and improve quality and OTD.

  • Create and update manufacturing routings and manufacturing and or assembly tooling/fixtures.

  • Preforms time studies in order to verify or establish time standards for manufacturing and assembly processes.

  • Leads the effort to develop and implement testing criteria and process, create and implement manufacturing processes, improving manufacturing processes to eliminate nonvalue added activities, creating standard work, and reducing process or inspection time.

  • Supports Manufacturing Technology development to improve operating processes, and is aligned with the global ME team for enterprise wide strategies

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of design standards.

  • Selection and justification of optimal capital equipment, tooling and commissioning of new manufacturing processes, while aligning with global standards

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) methodology; Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) methodology.

  • Aptitude to understand various materials, especially grades of steel and other alloys and the awareness of different International Standards relating to flow control products (i.e. valves).


  • Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering

  • 1+ years experience in manufacturing engineering or an engineering position in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to read production and assembly drawings

  • Understanding of GD&T

  • Strong computer skills

Preferred Experience / Skills:
  • 5+ years experience in Manufacturing Engineering

  • Lean or Six Sigma Training (Certification preferred)

  • Presentation skills

Role Summary: In this role, the candidate will be responsible for product line engineering for assigned quarter turn valves. The Staff Product Engineering role entails activities dealing with issues of product design and manufacturing, sales / quoting support, production costs, feasibility, quality, performance, reliability, serviceability and customized user features. Addressing these product characteristics includes product and component design, development, transitioning of the product to manufacturing, and supporting the sales and service teams in quoting and repairing the product. Preferred Experience / Skills: * Effective oral and written communications * Familiarity with and understanding of various International Standards relating to valves * Capable of reading, interpreting and creating engineering drawings, especially relating to manufacturability and tolerancing. * Experience with castings, forgings and machined components. * Knowledge of various materials utilized in industrial products, such as steel alloys and non-metallic sealing elements. * Must have a collaborative style that encourages the flow of communication, removes obstacles, and promotes problem solving and teamwork. Responsibilities & Requirements: * Engineering design support for assigned valve line * Ensure engineering design and standards documentation is complete, accurate, and sufficient in support of global manufacturing and quality assurance activities. This includes generating or checking bills of material, manufacturing drawings and sales order drawings. * Provide technical and customer service support for new customer inquiries, including the design of special products, technical evaluations of project sales quotations, application and troubleshooting assistance, and evaluations of returned goods. * Support product development and improvement activities addressing manufacturability, material cost, reliability and performance enhancements, coordinating across global engineering product resources as needed. * Follow engineering best practices and Flowserve standards. * Maintain up-to-date awareness of relevant national, international and industry standards and initiate any product improvements of modifications to ensure the product line meets these requirements. Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree. * Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously utilizing advanced project management tools, methods, and applications * Computer-Assisted Design/3-Dimensional design, Solid works and/or Inventor * Must have high sense of urgency to plan and execute project deliverables to meet schedule milestones. * Able to work independently, with organizational skills to establish priorities and drive tasks to completion.
