Collins Aerospace Operations is seeking a highly motivated and self-directed individual to fulfill an Industrial Engineering Co-Op opening at our Melbourne, FL manufacturing facility. Candidates must have excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational and time management skills. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June to December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2023.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in a manufacturing environment. Acts as liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to designs to improve manufacturability.

• Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns. Frequent use of general/technical knowledge and industry/functional practices, techniques and standards.

• Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.

• Supports Lean/Six Sigma initiatives including 5S, Waste Reduction, and Flow Improvements.

• Plans and designs facilities and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment, taking into account economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort.

• Determines proper flow and sequence of material for efficient build process

• Eliminate/reduce defects and improve test yields. Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve failures.

Basic Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

• U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
