Job Description BAE Systems is a worldwide defense contractor with an established Louisville, Kentucky presence. The Louisville site specializes in the fabrication and assembly of major shipboard components. We are in a sustained growth mode to support long-term fleet modernization and are in search of two Industrial Engineers to support this growth. These positions are replacements for persons promoted internally.

The ideal candidate will be able to think at a systems level about ambiguous problems and use strong logic and computation to develop and implement long lasting solutions to the production and material processes, including process flow, facility layout and optimization, material handling and control. Additionally this role will analyze equipment requirements which will lead to some capital project justification and implementation projects. Because you will lead or facilitate site wide improvement teams, these positions will have high internal visibility providing considerable professional diversity and growth opportunity.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must actively support BAE's value of Safety First

  • Typically a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a strongly related field

  • Typically 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing related work

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex problems and ensure solutions align with the organizations objectives

  • Project management and reporting experience

  • A fundamental understanding of facility constraints such as space, capacities, materials movement, and utilities

  • Shop layout experience with a demonstrated understanding of material presentation and flow

  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, and CAD required; AutoCAD preferred

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with a proficiency in English

  • Willingness and ability to work with others

  • Experience in applying Lean and 5S principles in a manufacturing setting

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Intermediate to Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)

  • Must be a US citizen and be capable of obtaining a security clearance

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Industrial Engineering degree

  • Project Management Practitioner (PMP Certification) or significant progress toward

  • Experience in a company that has a lean mindset and practices continuous improvement

  • Working knowledge of Oracle Applications

  • Formal Six Sigma training, with a green belt preferred; black belt desired

You will provide support and improvement of manufacturing processes throughout the facility.
