WSDOT is seeking skilled electricians with experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical maintenance to be part of our Tunnel Maintenance Team.
As a Transportation System Technician, you will test, repair and perform maintenance on electrical switchgear, battery backup systems, generators and distribution systems, along with other electrical and control system components within our tunnel system. Work is primarily performed throughout the SR99 and Mt. Baker Tunnels.
The competitive candidate will be able to troubleshoot and resolve electrical equipment problems; have a strong command of NEC and WAC codes and electrical theory. This individual will also be highly knowledgeable and be able to demonstrate experience in arc flash, lockout/tagout procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment for everyone.

Please Note: This position may be filled at the TST B, TST C, or TST D level therefore the successful candidate may be appointed at either level depending on the qualifications with the C being journey level ability/experience:

Typical work performed by this position:
Maintain, troubleshoot, test and repair electrical switchgear, motor controls, lighting contactors, generator and battery backup systems.
Assist other crafts servicing fire life safety equipment throughout the Tunnel.
Work from heights up to 75 feet using a man-lift bucket truck and work in confined spaces.
Operate small tools and equipment required for testing, repair or removal and installation of electrical systems and components.
Assist other journeymen with testing, repair or replacement of components of the fire life safety system associated with the Tunnel.
Journeyman Electrician License EL01.
10 years' experience performing electrical maintenance on equipment common to large industrial and commercial facilities.
Ability to lead and direct other performing electrical testing and maintenance
Experience using equipment such as but not limited to- ammeter, megger, tic tracer, HIPOT, DLRO and multi-meters.
Experience maintaining, repairing and testing medium voltage electrical switchgear along with utilization and branch circuits.
Knowledge of and ability to properly administer NEC, RCW and WAC code requirements.
Experience planning work, estimating time, ordering parts and maintaining an inventory.
Experience in reading, interpreting and understanding electrical and electronic blue prints, schematic, and diagrams.
Be available for call out outside of normal working hours.
Be able to work occasional nights as needed to perform work.
Ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and working at heights up to 75 feet.
Experience with control systems and fire systems
CDL class B drivers licenses w/o airbrake restriction must be acquired during probationary employment period.
