Description
The purpose of this class is to install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in a water and sewer utility environment; and to routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization.
Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
All County employees are considered public servants for the citizens of Dorchester County. When requested before, during, or after an emergency event, County employees are expected to work and serve the public in coping with the emergency.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by education in electrical maintenance and repair, industrial technology or a closely related field.
Requires at least six (6) years of related work experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Electrician certification preferred.
Additional Requirements
Work is performed in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to my co-workers or others.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hour each week to maintain full-time status. Must be available to work holidays and weekends during emergencies. This is a safety sensitive position and employees holding this position have the responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others. This position is subject to random drug testing.
