The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages Indirect Tax technology projects involving multiple business unit partners

  • Implements and maintains Indirect Tax automation and reporting tools (Vertex & Sabrix) within our ERP systems (SAP/Cost Point).

  • Optimizes tax systems to utilize recent software enhancements and capabilities

  • Configures/customizes tax systems to supplement out-of-the-box functionality

  • Assesses and improves process and data flow related to Indirect Tax automation initiatives

  • Monitors and stays up to date on emerging tax technology trends and continually reevaluates and revises the tax technology strategy for Indirect Tax

  • Sets appropriate goals and deadlines, managing resource requirements, establishing written project plans, regularly monitoring and communicating projects' status and seeing projects through to completion

  • Recommends solutions, outlines suggested courses of actions and implements solutions to correct errors going forward

  • Develops and analyzes reporting metrics to readily determine sales/use tax implications of company operations


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 9 years of relevant Indirect Tax experience with a proactive approach to collaboration and problem solving

  • Deliverable-focused, strong work ethic, and the capability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to independently identify and resolve issues

  • Understands cross functional impact and ability to build consensus with business partners

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Ability to independently and proactively resolve problems within established parameters. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both internal and external clients

  • Significant experience working with SAP and Vertex/Sabrix (or other third-party indirect tax automation software)

  • Experience developing and implementing processes, procedures, systems and or standards.

  • Excels with the use of emerging technology and advanced data warehousing

  • Travel may be required

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vertex Certification a plus

  • Master's degree and 7 years of experience

  • CPA a plus

  • Proven spreadsheet application skills and other database, automation or business intelligence skills

As a Technology Program Manager, you'll be asked to perform many functions while helping our sales and service users achieve their objectives through homegrown Verizon technology platforms. Specifically, you will be required to manage software development projects simultaneously from inception to completion. You will be responsible for managing all phases of the software development lifecycle including working with the Business Stakeholders to identify requirements and complete user stories. Furthermore, you will be responsible for driving sub projects to ensure they are delivered within committed timeframes and to the satisfaction of internal stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to, managing the programs, conducting requirements interview, documentation of business requirements / user stories, consultation on solution options and presentation, UAT planning and script development, UAT execution, production shakeout, and pre and post go-live planning and support. Responsibilities: * Manage technology platform's program * Conduct requirements sessions * Define user stories * Track user stories and associated tasks to ensure developed as designed * Communicate progress of deliverables to the business * User acceptance testing * Ensure successful release implementation * Communicate the new/changed functionality to the user base * Develop training and help documentation * Single resource for Tier II ticket support This position can be located in any valid Central or Eastern Time Zone Verizon location or work remotely within a reasonable commute distance to a valid Verizon location. You'll need to have: * Bachelor's degree or four more years of work experience. * Four or more years of relevant work experience. * Four or more years of experience in technical project management and/or project implementation. * Experience leading strategic/consultative sessions with clients. * Experience in building/documentation of requirements, consultation on solution design, UAT prep and execution, and pre and post-go-live support. * Willingness to travel upto 25% of time Even better if you have: * A degree. * PMP certification * Ability to work well across multiple work streams and have ability to develop relationships. * Ability to work with all levels within the organization effectively. * Detail oriented with organization skills. * Proven written and verbal communication skills * Presentation skills * Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills When you join Verizon...
